lets disband the current discord, and .net and instead all migrate here http://zodiackillersite.com/

We'll carry on as per usual, and just pretend the website isn't about something else entirely, I'll start by copying and pasting word for word the largest thread from here so we can keep that going at the very least.

All flash flood threads should also be migrated there. Current flash flood threads are now irrelevant.

ok guys, lets do this!

Goddamn, one moment your looking up a clock buddy on some website, the next you're reading an extensive FBI report on a child abuse/trafficking cult.

I'm not often fazed, but shit like that makes my fucking blood boil.

Heh, that was a big bowl of nothing. I read (and skimmed) a lot of the three files (597 pages) and it's a whole lot of repetition about the initial incident and clippings from newspapers and terrible penmanship. Who knew that the FBI policy on putting together files was "just throw any old shit together" including pages on an unrelated case. (Joking, this is probably some sort of clip file, not an actual report.)

Apparently in 1987 two adult males were arrested in a park in Tallahassee "looking after" six, seemingly neglected children. After some investigating they were believed to part of a group called the "Finders". Supposedly some communal living, free love / entrepreneurial venture (it was the '80s after all) based in Washington D.C. Two properties were searched and according to one report (also linked in the thread) from an involved customs agent, they allegedly found detailed instructions on how to "obtain children" and documents describing the "purchase of two children in Hong Kong." They also found photographs of the ritual slaughter of a goat carried out by both children and adults, dressed in robes.

Oh I think I found something in reference to this:

Doc 3, page 32.

Doc 3, page 39.

(It's pretty cool that the the FBI didn't have access to the name of the USCS special agent in '93, but we do, in '21.)

Apparently one member of the "Finders" described the 'ritual slaughter' as a hands-on learning exercise, similar to dissecting a frog in a biology class. The 'robes' were sheets to keep their clothes clean.

According to the FBI report the seized documents and computers did not contain anything illegal or any evidence of criminal activity. They were subsequently returned to the organization.

The link to the CIA was that the wife of the "cult leader" apparently worked there as a stenographer in the late '50s, early '60s.

Shit, it rung a bell somewhere, and it turns out we talked about it in the Biggest Thread back in '19. I initially thought that was about a different cult. (Also, it was only the first file at the time. Two more files (with more of the same) were added in the interim.)

So, paging Flounderman and Slurpee.

So, that was a couple of hours well spent. Not to hijack the thread or anything. I mean, why bring clockcrew.net to zodiackillersite.com, when you can bring zodiackillersite.com to clockcrew.net?

Although the USCS SA claiming to see photographs of ritual slaughter during the search and a member of the cult apparently commenting on them does substantiate it somewhat.

Now I gotta find that part again and this thing doesn't have a fucking search function.

Part of a TPD report on interviews with the mothers of the children found at the Tallahassee park.

While skimming, looking for the above, I did come across this in a report from the MPD:

So uhhh... without any of those actual files to review it's not all that substantial. I mean, there seems to be something there, but...

This material was probably published as part of some sort of attempt at transparency, but it doesn't really clarify all that much? Only seems to raise more questions that can't be answered.

I guess if you were a kook you could probably tie all sorts of shit to this.

More than a Zodiac specialist, I am an experienced programmer, very dedicated to a language named Python.
It is really the cipher attack I am about BUT still curious about the fascinating story.
The tenacity of the three people who overcame this monster (the cipher) impresses me a lot.
I have spent quite some time studying cryptos over the last decade. Reading about Turing, Rejewski etc... I read (but not understood all !) several university research work all aimed more or less at the Z340... and all failing !
I also have very occasionally coded encrypting/decrypting software for work (and may again)...

On my spare time...
1) I could not resist building a successful attack via dictionary on substitution ciphers (not very difficult) a few years ago
2) I tried a quite naive attack on homophones that completely failed more recently.
3) I am now trying a new very classical approach.

Enough of speaking about myself even if this is the place...

Besides, I live near Paris, France (an am French hence the subject)

i mean the cipher was cracked and as impressive as the cracking was, nothing important was said in the message. it was cool and romantic that there was this unsolved letter from the killer himself, but it turned out he was just a coward who didn't have enough respect for anyone who could solve his riddle to say who he was or even when another attack would be coming, YAWN fuck that guy
