I am quite the beer fetisch and I held a strong belief than neither England nor America could brew good beer.
Now England has proven me right but I had a friend visit from American and he showed a film he had filmed inside an beer shop: It had a huge section dedicated to different beers such as Bocks, Dubbel, Trippel, Belgium style, Cold Wheat, Trappist style ad.infinitum.

I was proven wrong and I rued the day I had mocked american beer, I rued the hell out of it.

England has a fascinating history about beer and ever growing specialist breweries around the country. For someone who has never been to the country and looked into the independent small local pub/garage breweries its silly to say how the country can not brew good beer.

There was an English festival at my local Beer pub (they have over 1400 beers) and there were tons of English beers. Me and my friends tried about 30 different beers and at most they were good and tasty but nothing speciall. Except one Trippel which was good but at that price level it should've been better.
