Is there anyone else that can't get along with this game? First time I got to the part where you had to get a deadric artifact. I was an Imperial and YinYang told me to start again as a Kajit, so I did. After that I couldn't be arsed with the main quest line so I joined all the guilds, got some achievements in them, then contracted vampism. There is shit loads of stuff you have to do to cure it, so I couldn't be fucked to do that either. And why are all the enemy's so hard to kill!

tl;dr; I'm shit at oblivion, give me ways to make it fun.

yinyangclock

how to play oblivion:
khajit custom class with heavy armour sneak blade ranged security etc
and play a thief with heavy armour

jesus

Khajit's are shit. If you want a race that has speed and actual beneficial skill bonuses, be a Wood Elf. Otherwise be an Orc (best race, no arguments) or a Breton (50% magic resistances + bonus mana, second best race).

If you're struggling with the enemies then you've got a problem, 'cause they're not hard unless you kick the difficulty to max. If you're not using a shield, do not use anything except a Claymore or a Battle Axe. Offence generally beats defence in this game anyway. Always block their first attack, and then start slashing away while running around them in a circle. You'll notice they can't turn around until the animation has stopped, and even then they can only do it at a slow pace so you can usually get 5-6 hits in, and then do it again.

If you want to get a boost at the start of the game, try this:
-Start a brand new game
-Go along as normal and pick up every single melee weapon you can find and carry them with you until you reach the part where you drop the logs on the goblins
-Kill the goblin with the bow only
-Run into the next cave and catch the attention of all of the goblins except the magic one. Kill her if you have to
-Do not equip a weapon yourself, and drop every single other weapon you picked up.
-Put whatever armour you want on, hold block and start letting them beat the shit out of you. You'll take about .3 damage per hit, and because blocking with fists doesn't knock them back until 50 block, you're getting an increase to both block and whatever armour you have.
-Do this for as long as you want. It's possible to get up to 75 skill points in light armour, heavy armour AND block as long as the goblins keep picking up the weapons after they break. Sometimes they don't.
-After you've levelled up as you want (takes about an hour. You can also max out your sneak skill here but it takes another couple of hours to do that I think) you have the choice of making the skills you've just learnt major or minor. If you major them up, you'll start off at an increased level but you will be weaker. The trade-off is you'll get to pick up better items to start off with.

Also, if you want to make the game easier without lowering the difficulty then do not set your most used skills as major ones. If you're using swords, don't pick blade. This way, you'll level up a lot less and the enemies won't level either.

Edit: Uhhhh anyone who uses Sneak and Security as major skills should be shot unless you want to power level ok. You can pick very hard locks with 5 security points and sneak levels up so easily the extra points are worthless.

You can get Sneak up to 25 before you even kill your first goblin for example and hey, that's just made the extra points moot already.

Edit2: NEVER go without Armourer unless you're a fist-fighting no armour wearing psycho. Or unless you know a way to get rich damn quick, because it's a major goldsink to not have it at apprentice straight away.

Cheers dude, I'll try this tomorrow!

All you need is to get your sneak up, then you just hit people in the back once and they die :]

Did this with one of my first characters, never got past level one hahaha

It's not much fun considering it's not a hard game anyway.

Remember that one time we took one of your model swords and destroyed your disk? that was fun.

it was great when we noticed that the Hilt did more damage than the blade.

I used cheats.

Made a tall-as-possible dragon-looking character, named him Trogdor...

Then zoomed out, clicked on him, and used a code to double his size. Then I leveled up everything to 255, including speed and agility. That with double the normal size meant that I could literally run on water, jump over buildings, etc.

Then I used that super powerful giant fireball spell, and burninated the peasants with vigor.

Oblivion is good but is too big to be arsed even going through half of it.

That's cool.

Also, I thought since this is a topic about oblivion, I thought I'd repost my video of a glitch I randomly stumbled upon.

I didn't like Oblivion because it was way too fucking huge once you escaped the jail in the beginning.  I like linear games more.

i actually wanted it to be bigger once i got into it

PoisonshroomClock

It's a good game but it has it's problems, could just be me though.
Like I'll be going though and then it won't tell me what to do or where to go properly, or the game will actually fuck up, leaving the quest actually impossible to complete (and when you can't really be fucked picking up and leaving to start another string of quests it's quite frustrating).

I am playing it on 360 though and haven't played it with Live so if they've released any patches for these fixes then I wouldn't have picked them up.

Also the cure vamparisim quest is fucking ridiculous.

SockpuppetClock

I like the PC version better because you can open up the console and do all kinds of crazy shit.

KinderEggClock

Ok guys I take it back. This game is awesome. My only problem is that I can't go to sleep without contracting vampism again, so I can't level up :(
I've completed the main and arena quest line now though.
