EWJ is awesome, and if you're talking about tonic trouble (damn that game is old) that's a good one too. I'd immediately play portal and half life though.

Seriously, as a game programmer and designer you should play it. It grows on you more than you think. Once you figure out everything and succeed, it is worse than crack.
