Well, I am serious about Cad starting a splinter site (not leaving here per se, he can stick around here if he wants to even do his recruiting if he wants as long as he dials shit down a bit), if he's expecting everyone to conform to his side and for the staff to start following his every idea. Cad's not going to get his way the way he's been talking lately (although you do seem to have calmed down a bit, thanks for that).

It's not like the staff is completely rigid, though, either. I am trying to start a dialog on what could possibly be done that can appeal to both sides of the issue without completely alienating the other side. There's no way we can just go "Okay, let's just listen to what these old members have to say and do exactly as they demand," because 1). First of all, that would suggest that all someone has to do is bitch and they get exactly what they want here, which is total bullshit, and 2). It would ruin the CC for other people who are here to enjoy themselves, help other people, and expand the reach and creative potential of the CC, like Strange, BigBadRon, Munglai, and other well respected, equally long-term members, as well as equally promising and productive newer members such as Athenais and Toad (although thankfully he keeps coming back, and has started to figure out how to get you guys off his back).

Guess what? This community will never be exactly the way you want it to be. I highly doubt it was ever that way, but you're remembering the past through the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia like every human being does. And it's not exactly the way I want it to be either. Nowhere close. I've accepted that much, and have tried to let things pretty much go their own way, but I have to draw the line once one group starts viciously attacking the other and we get deadlocked into this stalemate of hatred towards one another.

To make this clear: there STILL is no policy on spam movies, and there has been NO serious talk about "spam movie policy". It was a suggestion made by a couple of people on the staff when we didn't have the full story on things when we were too close to the issue and didn't have time to cool off and discuss things properly yet. But notice we didn't suddenly institute a "spam movie policy" in the heat of that emotion. We waited, and the issue pretty much dissolved into the ether overnight on the staff end. Although you guys keep using those comments, that you weren't supposed to see in the first place for this very fucking reason, as an excuse to persecute us.

As far as I'm concerned, you can spam as much as you want, although I do think the balance has shifted waaaaaaaay into the spam movie territory (the CC was never about ALL spam, unless you only consider the CC to be StrawberryClock, who barely counts since technically Orange started this whole shebangabang anyway, and he's still responsible for some of the best quality movies the CC has ever produced, IMO) and I would like to do what I could to encourage more quality movies to be made, but that doesn't mean I'm going to take negative actions on those that make spam movies, just that I'm going to look into trying to get people excited in more collaborations or teamwork or artistic self-expression.

Which is weird that I have to be the one to do this, since my primary attraction to Flash has been for its game capabilities and not its movies, and I'm already having trouble finding time for the CC outside of work, trying to make a name for myself in the game industry, and my other personal, non-clock related projects, but there doesn't seem to be that many people lately who want to put in the effort, so I guess if I want to see that positive change I've got to create it myself.

As for the spam events... I'm not really fond of them, and I definitely don't want to see it become a regular occurrence, but I can't control you guys outside this BBS, nor do I really want to. I just hope you guys will decide not to do it of your own accord. But if you do, so be it, I guess. I'm accepting of your "folkways", yet you guys have been really against mine lately and other people on this site like me.

And Cad, the staff can read your deleted posts, so there's really no need to delete them. You don't like me and Leek. Fine. I don't really care much for you either (although I was completely indifferent to you until you targeted the staff). What's next, do we fight outside by the flagpole after school?

Leek and I became the leaders through a series of events that we weren't responsible for (and technically, Tree, Renegade, Pineapple, and Quartermelon should still be as well, but 3 are MIA and Renegade demoted himself), and we haven't done anything so monstrous to get ourselves kicked out by the rest of the staff yet (it'd be hard to anyway, we hold the only keys to the castle, besides the other MIA admins, and Leek holds waaaay more keys than I do. I just have the control panel). And funny enough, I've almost consistently been on the staff for the past 5 years, including those periods you apparently have no issues with. I still haven't really seen for anyone calling for our heads to be put on pikes except for you, to be honest. I understand we're fucking some things up, although I had traditionally thought it was just we didn't do enough positive events and we'd let the website's features stagnate lately (although no one's offered to help with that either in the past 2-3 years).

But it turns out some of you miss the old CC. I miss the old CC too. It had olskoo, and Banana, Snapple, Zidane, me and Plum bickering over which console was the best, playfully making fun of each other, Orange, Raspberry, Grapes, and Knotts interacting with the site on a regular basis, Koala, Battery only doing playful spam posts and not trying to autoplay the site to death, F8L periodically being bipolar, Tangie making touching and funny classic clock movies, Tamale day.... a lot of fond memories. And almost all of those people gone now. And they didn't all leave because "the clock crew ain't what it used to be", a lot left because they got older, got girlfriends and jobs and had busy lives in college, maybe they lost interest in Flash or got tired of people going batshit at them when they did something they thought was cool but was unpopular (CC v2, etc), or found another community with people that connected with them more, and they left. I've stubbornly stuck around, and a lot of you guys have, or at least popped in from time to time, but those people are gone, Newgrounds is no longer the anarchist experimental playground hosted on a single server in the basement of Tom's apartment that it used to be but a steady business that feeds 14+ people and helps launch the careers of hundreds of others, the internet is now mainstream that it's not just anarchist techie geeks that have access to the internet anymore, and bandwidth is now so cheap and the free software movement has matured enough that you can create your own (albeit smaller) community for $10 a month.

Everything is constantly in flux, and if you're not willing to be open to and accept new ideas and paradigms, you're going to lose your job, be swindled out of all your cash, and lose most of your friends. I personally can't wait for you guys to get into the real world and try this tirade shit and demanding half the people in your company get fired and calling your boss names. See how long you keep your job then. See how long you keep your girlfriend if you demand she dumps half of her dumb as shit friends and how she's such a horrible person for not being exactly like you. See how easy it will be for you to get elected as a politician if you say that the other half of the people are total douchebags and they-oh...well, that's one field where that approach might work. You guys might want to go into politics someday.

That comment was more addressing people getting upset that things aren't like the good old days and not an appeal not to spam. I kinda like spam, since it tends to be random humor, which I can't help but like. I just also like quality, meaningful movies, also. I just don't make spam movies or feel I need to encourage them, since there is faaar more supply than demand.

And yes, I like to write a lot. Did you see the Clock Manifesto? My longest college essay was about half that length! That doesn't automatically discount what I say, though, despite your assertions.

Do you just hate your life or something? Is that why you're so negative all the time? Do you need me to hook you up with a musician so you can overdose on pills together?

That comment was more addressing someone making unnecessary big ass posts.

I didn't automatically discount what you wrote, I read all... yes all of it, based on what I read I wrote a reply... I believe that's how BBS work, but who knows??? It's a mistery .

Also, why would you say I hate my life or... something? I'm not negative all the time, see this: http://www.clockcrew.cc/talk/showthread.php?t=71889 I just organized a collab to try to forget all this drama, you should join!

Well, I've only seen your responses to me lately, and I completely missed that.

I take back my comment. {{DNA Clock}}

I don't know if I can participate in that (I'm home with family for easter, and as soon as I go back I have work, which has been insane the past two weeks. I worked 50 hours last week, and I only worked four days - Good Friday I had off - trying to get my first credited game finished up and submitted for certification)... so, I don't know if I can get 'er done by noon on Monday. But hopefully you get a lot of people to contribute!

Okay Sage, just finished reading your statement and it also answered some little doubts that kept pestering me but never bothered to ask.

To be fair, nothing is as 10 years ago, not even 3 years go. 1997 for example was a key year for me in gaming, movies and TV but that is another story.

(oh and Sage, any tips on what to focus if I want to enter the game developing industry? Is just one of my dreams is starting my own franchise and developer :3)
