For the first time in my life, I've been promoted. I've been working in a hotel/restaurant/snackbar for a while now, as good as a year actually. And my job was to wash dishes. I did it last year because it was the only thing I could find but it was shitty, and I would've quit if I didn't need the money for a music festival. I kept working there after the summer because the work became easier, but now summer is lurking and I asked for "something else" within the restaurant, and now I can go work in the snackbar, woohoo.

I'll be learning a bit of German this summer, it's been years since I last had it in school (okay, 8 months tops) and there's a lot of german tourists here. Also, I'll be earning more and working with people my age rather than people at least 20 years older than me.

Also, I'll still work there when I turn 17 at which point I get a birthday bonus which is pretty awesome. Go me!

i was working in a convenience store one summer. they told me about "the lizard guy" who came in every now and then and not to be alarmed when he did. one day i'm serving people at the till and i glance at the guy i'm serving and notice an odd design on his shirt. i look up and see that he has a fully grown iguana sitting on his shoulder.

true story.

Our restaurant recently had a renovation and now one guy never shows up anymore. He used to come with his wife and kids, sit in the restaurant and later coming to the bar, ordering a whisky and paying immediatly so it doesn't show up on the bill.

After the renovation the bar is in view of the restaurant, we haven't seen him in 3 months while he used to come every week.

I hate it when someone brings and item to the checkout and it doesnt scan for some reasons like, it's new and not on the system yet and then they are all 'awhaahwwhah does that mean I get it 4 free?!?!?!'
max signature height is 250px not 431, bro.

Oh and why do people who buy bicycles go "hey what about a discount".
Obviously bicycle repairmen have tons of cash so a discount obviously won't be a problem!

Do you ask for a discount in a restaurant? Nope, you pay extra. You ask for discount at a place where you get free service as long as the problems aren't too major.

I worked at a supermarket that was pretty much next door to an apartment complex for seniors... needless to say, some were more senile than others. There was one strange woman who I'm told would sometimes go in and drink the orange juice.
<Marlin Clock> This thread seems proof positive that divisiveness at any level is usually bad for the Clock Crew.
<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew

Quote from: ShotglassClock;1260212I work at Subway.

I've heard subway can be the best job or the worst job in the world, depending entirely on how much money that particular subway is making and what manager they send to it.

A friend of mine works there and he used to think he had the best job in the world, until the profits dropped and they sent a "better" manager. Over half the people that worked there already quit :p

Mine is shit.
But I've heard that there are better out there.

I recently resigned from a moderately lucrative baking job. I got a bit of overtime, the hours flexed for my school schedule, and I enjoyed the advantage of being the only native English speaker in my department. I had the job for three months before I passed out in a cake freezer.

I have a gluten allergy, you see. This means that all the time I had been working with in that bakery I hadn't touched a single thing I could eat. I wasn't supposed to steal food, so it made me appear as a model worker. I figured I was fine handling the stuff. It was a good ruse.

My doctor put me on some shady drug to protect me from my own immune system and I turned in a letter of explanation to my bosses two days later.

Now all I have is an unpaid internship and a stagnant and unrewarding labor contract from Reliant Stadium. (Hanna Montana Concerts)
