The first one is a few neat experiments involving liquid nitrogen, including solid mercury and an "apple cider pop." The teacher is speaking English, he just has a heavy Asian accent.

The second one is some guy just playing around with mercury. Cool stuff that is, but I wouldn't use it at home, as it could get stuck in cracks and slowly evaporate, killing your brain cells over time. Not good. But it's very cool looking.

AirPumpClock, I came to this thread expecting science. And what did I get? Tomfoolery!

<Marlin Clock> This thread seems proof positive that divisiveness at any level is usually bad for the Clock Crew.
<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew

Once as a joke my friend and I put a mercury switch in a small box with an M-80 and a model rocket igniter. Then we put it on our friend's doorstep, rang the bell and ran off. When he came out he picked up the box and turned it over to look for an address label and that set off the switch, causing the box to blow up in his hand. Oh yeah, don't try that at home.

It's completely safe to touch. The issue is the fact that breathing small amounts of it in for a long period of time (like years) does brain damage. Hwoever, you do need to wear a gas mask if handling a large, opened quantity of it, like a whole barrel full.

Mercury vapors can kill you very easily. As can a tiny amount of mercury if it gets in your skin via a sore.

This is a story I just read earlier today where a guy died, nearly killing his lady while using heated mercury to extract gold from old PC components.
