In order to run Vista Ultimate at it's maximum capacity, you'll need a good sized hard drive, as it will probably eat up about 15 gigs, a 2.6 single core processor or higher,  and to be safe you'll need about 2 gigs of ram, and 512 video couldn't hurt, however some of my friends run it with 256 video.

It's well worth it if you want to game on a computer and be able to get the full experience of it.

I was told by a friend who got it that in Task Manager, where my CPU usage usually runs at about 2%-6% when idle, Vista runs at about 20% usage all the time.

Is that just because he has a shitty PC, or what?

Most likely. My dad's vista PC stays at about 1-7%

Hm, alright, thanks. I'll look at it (my friend has Vista on his computer) but I doubt I'd have enough money to afford a good enough computer anyway so I'll probably have to stick with XP regardless.

If you have less than 120gigs, I do not recommend Vista; XP is going to be a better choice.

Don't get fucking Vista, Jesus Christ. Sobe, stop leading people astray. I'm locking this.

Quote from: SoBeClock;1273614Vista is superior to XP in almost every way, especially in preformance! I don't even see how it's debatable. Just get a good version of vista.

XP is outdated, slower than vista, and can't even recognize 4 gigs of ram! It stops using ram at about 3.5 gigs.

On my dad's computer, we have been using it for years, and have never had a single problem with it. I haven't upgraded just yet because I was using my money to upgrade my computer's hardware itself first. I'll probably be getting vista soon.

Also, If your computer can't handle vista, it absolutely sucks, no exceptions.

Unless you have a machine with more than 3 GB of RAM, there is absolutely no reason to use Vista. On a top of the line machine, yes, Vista might run faster, but on anything other than that it's going to lag like a whore. It's a gigantic OS and XP is much more efficient for a system with 3 or less gigs.
