Norm McLaren was a Scottish experimental animator who did massive amounts of work with the Canadian Film Board. He was an extremely innovative mind, really pushing the medium and working with the actual film itself.

When watching, keep in mind that it was almost entirely animated by either drawing straight onto 35mm film, or using a sharp object to scratch into black film. Frame by frame. McLaren's timing and syncing to audio is nothing short of genius.

Neighbours utilises the underrated art of pixilation. No not pixelation, pixilation: a method of animation achieved by filming people frame by frame.
