I've taught fourth grade, both special ED and gifted. Ignorant questions need to be answered. They come at all times and stages. They aren't the problem in and of themselves.

However, being as these people are your peers I would keep way the hell away and find a more fitting clique. I'd be tempted to slap the stupid off of that girl who was on about the Vietnam war being the Korean. You did well to bail.

Eventually all ignorant and stupid people will be killed unless, of course, they devotedly support certain political groups. Then somehow magically they're not longer ignorant and stupid, but passionate and open-minded. Funny how people's opinions of you change depending on what side of a line you stand on.
