Banning fast food in poor neighborhoods

Cooking your own food. Poor people existed before fast food.

So if I have $30 to spend for my weekly food, should I get the 20 TV dinners and 24 pack soda that would feed me the whole week or the 5 apples, a bundle of carrots, some bread, and a gallon of milk that would last 3 days? The latter choice is obviously more healthy, but either I won't be able to feed myself or I'll have to allocate more money to food instead of paying for my house, gas, electricity, car, etc.

Having actually been poor and starving I can say that reasonably healthy food options are availible. Frozen veggies, ramen without the packet, and rice are all viable options. Either way I'm just against anything that takes away the rights of the people even if it's meant to do good.

It's a good system, great system. I'd like to put out a formal request to the God-Kings, or whatever you choose to be called, to keep Kodiak banned from here permanently. This is sadly what the politicians think, but one: how does eating healthy, more expensive food INCREASE your income? and two: That $300 steak probably isn't too good fro your heart either, "unhealthy" food crosses all economic boundaries. and 3: This assumes that poor people are stupid, they may be financially, but that doesn't mean they are idiots.

This decision has a number of foreseeable consequences, some positive, some negative. For instance, it will probably stimulate the local economy by reducing competition from big business - making small burger joints a lot more lucrative. However, it is important to notice that large fast food companies are subject to international scrutiny, and as such, generally have much higher standards for health and safety. In addition the community may feel that it is having this shoved down their collective throats, and instead choose to attend fast food restaurants outside of their normal range. Given the increasing costs of petrol this could be especially detrimental to a poorer neighbourhood.

You think about it: you make the conclusion that my agreement is mindless, when it really isn't. I just happen to have had others say my words for me. I established a side, and gave a small amount of input on the matter without revealing all my cards.

So why does it really matter so much to you anyway? You are taking attention off of the subject at hand, while I added to it and made my position clear. Who is at fault here?

This is true, but you make the mistake of assuming what those reasons are.

You can call out a poor debater in a debate. This is the debate forum, it happens. You're not even giving an opinion that can even be disputed, questioned, or further discussed. Unless they refer to those who you are agreeing with. You are contributing nothing to the conversation but a slight head-nod here and there. You are useless to the overall discussion.

The answer is that neither of us are a fault. I am not calling out a poor debater, you just want to think that; I am calling out a poor listener. If you see me as useless to the discussion, then maybe it is because you aren't really listening to me, or expect everything all at once and are disappointed when that isn't the case, maybe I don't match up to some standard you have made up?

Whatever the case, there is no reason to get all bent out of shape so early in the thread -- if you care to know my opinion on the matter, then wait for it to progress to the point where I feel giving my opinion is appropriate. Still though, it will just be an opinion so don't expect me to have all the right answers either.
