1.) Strategy (Turn based or Real Time)

EDIT: Changing my answer, Strategy is my favorite, and I like the others equally.

I put them in order anyway, woohoo.

1. Strategy
2. 2D Platformer-adventure
3. Dunno

Btw guys, action and adventure are pretty broad genres so you might want to narrow that down a bit.

#6
Platformer/Adventure (A platformer saved the console gaming industry, that's pretty fucking impressive)
Fighter (Started with SSB but now I'm expanding into others like Street Fighter. Some good recommendations for awesome fighting games would be appreciated. Also Punch out!!.
Puzzle (Tetris and now Puyo Pop hold me for days)
if there were two guys on the moon and one of them killed the other with a rock that'd be pretty fucked up wouldn't it?

Marlin Clock

1. turn-based strategy (Advance Wars is my fav)
2. RPG-to a limit, once I hit level walls I can't stand playing, and unfortunately all but three RPGs I've played do, the 2 Kingdom Hearts and TWEWY.
Even TWEWY had a level wall at the end, but the game-play mechanic is so entertaining you don't care that you're grinding the same damn dragons and bears and rhinos a bajillion times.

3. TF2- the way that game plays it's basically its own genre. I guess you'd call it a class shooter?
4. Adventure
5. What would you put PW under? It's adventure-y since you need to find stuff and show it to the right people.

You could call it a "Point and Click Adventure" and/or "Virtual Novel" That's what I've seen it categorized as so far.

TequilaClock

Yeah its point&click in gameplay terms.

DigitalLemonClock

Hmm... I wasn't sure, so I went to the top ten games thread to see what I picked, and RPG is really the only definitive genre I can claim as a favorite. I have one of almost every other category on the list. Racer, FPS, TPS, rhythm, platformer, survival horror...

So my list would be:

-RPG
-Good games
-Great games
