Spent about an hour on this. Modeled the gun from a box, and the bullets from a cylinder. Criticism?

What an ugly rock.
Also why not use a jpeg? You could of had almost the same quality for a much smaller file size.
I believe you've gotten the bullets colours backwards, but that might just be me.
To me it looks like you turbosmoothed it at some point and it ruined the shape of the gun, the material you have on it doesn't help with the impression that it's a rock.
I'll go get some more helpful stuff soon.

You could go about unwrapping the gun, giving it a diffuse and bump map.
Or you could do several types of materials with mat id. Having maybe using some of the arch and design materials that mental ray has.
