wait a tick, if you're running Windows XP, then you've probably got a NTFS file system, and if you have a NTFS file system then defragmenting will have little effect on performance or space because it's already screwed up.

Use EXT2 with either linux or BSD so you won't have to defrag in the future.

EDIT:I think a robot should have NetBSD because it's obscure and you can get it to operate on just about anything that has a processor.
