Open Terminal, type killall Dock (the D has to be capital) but don't press Enter yet. Open a webpage, or better yet a YouTube video ORRRRR a start playing a DVD. Do the shift+minimize trick, when it's like halfway done, press enter on the Terminal window (has worked for a while, still does as of Snow Leopard, not sure about Mavericks). Cmd+m and restore to fix it, but it's fun to scroll around. Bonus points for moving your dock to the side of the screen (shift+drag the resize spacer bar to the side) for movies, people grow when they walk across the screen
