did Nelly ruin the completely normal thing to say "it's getting hot in here" permanently and irretrievably?

it's been 15 years and I can't even glance at those words without immediately following it up with... I DON'T EVEN HAVE TO SAY IT. YOU ALREADY KNOW. it's not even a joke or a reference anymore, just an automatic behavior, like saying "god bless you" when somebody sneezes
I'd like to imagine a future after we start responding automatically to "it's getting hot in here," but just like "god bless you," "so take off all your clothes" becomes a phrase we say without thinking about what it means or where it came from

sort of the only reason you'd then be able to use that phrase in polite mixed company

<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew

Goddamn, I shouldn't have badmouthed ghosts earlier: one of the books in my bookcase was sticking out! By like a solid inch!

PhantomCatClock

hmm, apparently I need to up my wget game if I want to crawl download images off of tumblrs

not that I'm doing that

but I noticed your Tumblr has a Phantom Cat and a PhantomCat tag just by some weird accident but also narcissism is one of the few tags that has multiple pages so I guess I am home

Narcissism is the tag I use for RobClock drawings and generally any drawings I do of myself. Just as a bit of self awareness to how lame my clock name is. I tend to tag stuff in multiple ways so anyone who might be looking for it can find it- like I tag ‘StrawberryClock’ ‘Strawberry’ ‘Clock’ and ‘SBC’. Probably doesn’t help but whatever

nothing I can say would be as funny to me as The Big Weird Man right now, but my comedic instincts tell me to post The Gaylords the Hedgehog

PhantomCatClock

in A Christmas Carol, Scrooge asks Bob Cratchitt if he wants a paid day off for Christmas, and then gives it to him, but he's kind of a dick about it

Quote“You’ll want all day to-morrow, I suppose?” said Scrooge.
“If quite convenient, Sir.”
“It’s not convenient,” said Scrooge, “and it’s not fair. If I was to stop half-a-crown for it, you’d think yourself ill-used, I’ll be bound?”
The clerk smiled faintly.
“And yet,” said Scrooge, “you don’t think me ill-used, when I pay a day’s wages for no work.”
The clerk observed that it was only once a year.
“A poor excuse for picking a man’s pocket every twenty-fifth of December!” said Scrooge, buttoning his great-coat to the chin. “But I suppose you must have the whole day. Be here all the earlier next morning!”
The clerk promised that he would; and Scrooge walked out with a growl.”
I think the lesson is "you get away with a lot more if you're polite"
