Saw Cry Macho, the new Eastwood picture and incidentally my first theatre going experience since the world became a dystopian shit hole. Assigned seating when purchasing a ticket was an unexpected surprise.

So the film; I want to preface this by saying I think it was better than his last movie, The Mule, but I think Clint's days as a leading man are officially at their end. At one point he handed someone a paper and his hand was shaking so violently it made me genuinely concerned for his health. In a scene where he holds a woman's hand and walks away from the camera when he lifts his hand into shot the entire thing is bruised purple and it's like yeah the wind probably hit him. His delivery was decent but even in playing a tired old man he came across as a bit stuttery and winded. I think he did a fine enough job but I guess it just hurts to see one of the all time greats as a decrepit geriatric. No shame to retire at 91 fucking years old mind you. I will also say that I favoured his performance over his young costar who is not a great actor and the kids father, Eastwood's boss in the film, gives the worst performance I've ever seen in my life. Like, high school drama student level- not a believable inflection, not a decent bit of acting in the role.

Beautifully shot, sombre in tone but neither dull nor slow, the action scenes (other than Eastwood taking three consecutive steps before bracing himself on something) were visceral and really jolted me when the ambiance is so deliberately quiet otherwise.

I think I'd give it 6 or a 7 outta 10 with a light recommendation. If the trailer interested you, you'll probably enjoy it.

You hear about all the california fires, living here, and it's this thing that sucks and keeps happening to people who live in the mountains or the non-farmland areas

today the sky is orange and it smells like smoke. Light on the floor from the windows is ruby red. Swell.

Shadow Tower Abyss is like if halfway through a Dark Souls game you started finding machine guns and rocket launchers so you just stunlock every subsequent boss the moment you walk in the room, and blow harder regular enemies the fuck up before they can even turn around, respectively.

you put a big piece of fabric between you and the sun, we call that "shade" and it keeps you cool
you lower that same piece of fabric onto your body, now it's a "blanket" and it keeps you warm

this means at some point there exists a perfect time-of-day/distance-from-cloth balance where your body does not change temperature

<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew

PhantomCatClock

i'd pay that much for a pirated pdf of oglaf 1-3 but only if the pdf was in epub format

Critical Analysis of Acclaimed Folk Graffiti Artist and Racist Post-9/11 Web Animator "CarrotClock"

VCRClock

flash animation was definitely the first time there was any discrepancy between the title on the movie poster vs. the title in the credits vs. what the theater said it was showing

the film industry would never let that happen

and to be honest, I always wondered if 'carrotclock' in the credits meant 'this animation was created by the internet user known as carrotclock' or perhaps 'this is a folktale whose purported author may or may not have actually lived'

what was carrotclock's vocation anyway? this is the second question that comes to my mind every time I watch a film
folklore has it he ran an internet website about flash animations

ahaha they're talking about the game where you bomb iraq
I completely forgot that was released on the CarrotClock account, but for a while that was what everyone pointed to when they said carrot was Tom, because it totally has the feel of one of his games

I hope the writer acknowledged the alternate ending where you bomb all the oil reserves and kill george bush

Can we talk about this? I was reading that article in prep for something I recorded with bigbadron yesterday, and he absolutely insisted that Carrot actually was Tom. Nonsense, I said, total nonsense. He's not, right?

I consulted the sacred clock crew compendium but all it said was "all will be revealed in clocktober"

I can't confirm for sure, but the closest I've heard to an official confirmation was,

at some point between 2005 and 2010, the CarrotClock account on newgrounds was (without the knowledge of me or whatever other squares were nominally in charge at the time) compromised by a group of then-current members of the Clock Crew, for shenanigans. to the surprise of said group of delightful rascals, nobody at Newgrounds had a problem with this, because Carrot has always been multiple people
