the towering looming empty space of the top half the painting with obscured decor, the fucked up inbred aristocracy faces, the way some of the figures but not all of them are looking directly at you, the two figures in the mirror(?) that kind of defy you to place them in the scene, the dog that looks like some kinda fucked up demon dog but then you look closer and realize he's actually just groggy and resting his chin on his chest the way dogs do sometimes when they're tired or have to sneeze but then you look away for a second or look even closer and he kinda seems like a demon again. what are the goddamn giant butterfly fasteners hanging from the ceiling, D? who is the stair man? who is the shadow monster man behind the inexplicable nun? why are YOU in this painting just off to the side painting a comically gigantic painting that we don't get to see? some kind of distraction so the devil children can seep into my nightmares?
