Well if they've already read the posts they won't show up as new, even if merged, I would think. That's not a guarantee, but it makes sense to me.

I don't think it'd do much harm if they showed up in new posts. At worst people will have to browse through more threads than usual and folks will come back to the spam novel forum before everything's put together. It's better than leaving it the way it is.
