i do miss the hacky little ways of doing things. I mean, if you already know how to control a movieclip in code, there's nothing stopping you from summoning a movieclip that exists only for the sound effect every time you fire a bullet, or take damage, or whatever

I basically didn't have to learn any code for ~10 years because flash's nested timelines are so powerful that stealing code from the cc preloader is Turing complete

Lmao im so bad at just pilaging code from other things I've made even if they're not similar purposes at all. Like if I need a collision event, instead of making a new event and writing the code I'll copy an old event involving collision, and then delete basically all of it so I don't have to write ONE SINGLE line. It probably wastes more time than it saves lul

put the sound set to streaming inside of a movieclip and put the movieclip only on the button's hover frame

I have no idea if that will work or if it's even possible but it's definitely the first thing I'd try

yeah and the last frame of the movieclip put a keyframe with stop(); on it

I'm listening to videos from this nexpo guy and every single line of every single video is "an anonymous user noticed that something another anonymous user posted from a youtube channel created that very week contained a reference to the same mysterious website that the other anonymous user had posted that very day" and him just either not realizing or pretending not to realize that he's probably talking about exactly one bored liar for an hour

I used to do that on neopets all the time
you make like 4 accounts, and have two of them post, separately. that they're experiencing some strange phenomenon, and then you go on the third account and have that one "notice" that they're experiencing the same thing and point it out. suddenly to a third party it seems legit, because it's two different people that don't even know each other. then you have your fourth account go "omg I thought I was going crazy! I'm so glad somebody else is going through this" and maybe have a fifth account be skeptical and then go "omg, it happened to me too!"
and at that point you don't even have to keep the lie up, because other kids will just start lying to feel like they're a part of something
ta-da, you've added a little mystery to the world!
I'm sure there's people out there who still have some vague memory of the "something has happened" encounters very rarely including odd strings of binary. they didn't though, that never happened. I made that up
