I don't understand why people play that game, it looks fucking awful.

from what i've gathered, the new MMO they're working on is Diablo.

For the record, I have friends who play WoW and i still didn't get addicted.  I'm usually a fan of mmo's too.

I just couldn't get past the constant grinding, which really wasn't too bad compared to say, ffix.

Its a good game i guess, I just couldn't get into it.

Quote from: ScrewdriverClock;1688804.. I hope you're kidding. WoW is hitting its 5 year anniversary this year.

Edit: unless you're talking about Starcraft, then carry on.
You do realise there is this thing called Alpha and Beta, my friend ran the biggest WoW fansite in Sweden so since the earliest Alphas in the USA I was playing it.

Quote from: VirusClock;1688811Starcraft MMO? I rather see what new Universe they will unveil, rather then just lazily make another MMO based on an already active series.
Well I want to experience that universe since it looks nice and cool and I never did feel it being used to begin with, but I get your point at it is a valid one...
Quote from: VirusClock;1688811World of Warcraft was in my opinion the best game I have ever played when it was first released. The expansions ruined the game by changing it; obviously a good strategy of Blizzard as they are obviously juicing the game before it gets too old. That way they'll have more funds for future projects.
Yes, that is also what I dread if they make an entire new universe; They'll have refined the addiction effect to perfection from the start thus making the baby stillborn.
Quote from: ButtplugClock;1688832Yes instead of hanging out lets grind for virtual points for hours and hours online and I will pretend Ted is a female Orc warrior and Jared is a Purple haired Gnome.
You know there is this thing called adulthood when people don't have time to "hang out" and go meet at coffee shops after work/schoolwork.
So instead they log on to WoW, enter the Ventrilo and tadaa suddenly you're talking to all your friends without having to call around and make appointments or whatnot.
Quote from: Gogâs;1688919I don't understand why people play that game, it looks fucking awful.
It runs on a 7 year old graphics engine or whatever.
Also that screenshoot is at the lowest graphic setting.
Thirdly WoW has soul in its graphics, something alot of games that strife for realism fail to achieve which is why they feel so empty even at the most crowded of times.
Fourthly its a matter of taste.

Diablo is no an MMO, it's an action game with level ups.

Adults play WoW.
Gotcha.

Unfortunately the alpha was in company, the only way you could play before release was the closed beta, which happened March of 2004, and was released in November of the same  year. So if you're claiming your friend who ran a FANSITE had access to a Blizzard alpha, cool I guess you think you're good at lying. Otherwise get that stick out of your ass and stop acting so butthurt in here.

i know that, what i was saying is that the new MMO they're working on is, from what i heard, a Diablo MMO.

They've announced it's a completely new Universe; as previously mentioned.

Diablo 3 is not an "action game with level ups", it's an RPG.

The Alpha was leeked. Back in grade 8, one of my friends had it, and showed me screenshots of Westfall with the mechanic scarecrows. I've been playing it since the Beta (purchased it 4 months after it was released) and have been online ever since (on and off).

It was a fabulous game. I had 15 RL friends/school buddies who played it (including girls) and was the most fun I've had since I played Super Mario World. Some of my friends have even met a few of their online friends. It's a fun game, but if you have people you know playing it as well, it becomes simply amazing.

Where do you roleplay in Diablo? There is no such thing as an RPG nowadays. In order to be an RPG role playing must be the dominant element.

Actually RPG nowadays refers not typically to game style but to character development. If it controls a single character, has leveling up, a dynamic stat system, upgradable things and a skill set you can build upon, and it tells a story, it is considered an RPG. Basically if it has a character development system reminiscent of old tabletop text RPGs, it is an RPG or has RPG elements.

Diablo is an Action RPG.

QuoteDiablo, the point-and-click genre

In 1996, a stagnant PC RPG market was revitalized by Blizzard's Diablo, an action/RPG that used a point-and-click interface and offered gamers a free online service to play with others that maintained the same rules and gameplay.

Don't correct me when you don't know what you're talking about if you please.
