Well, you could do that fbf, but it would take waaaaayyy longer and would probably end up all jittery, so yeah, tweening is usually the way to go for simple movements.

But if you're going to do anything resembling traditional pencil-on-paper animation, you'll want to do fbf. That isn't to say that tweening doesn't have its uses there. It's best to think of tweening as a tool.

While your tweening, there's also a neat function called "Ease".

Ease In: the motion begins slowly, before gaining speed as time progresses.
Ease Out: the motion begins quickly, before losing speed as time progresses.
