I'm not mad on this one. I think it's technically competent, but it's a very prosaic image. I wanted it to be more... expressive, but I lost confidence.

I do like the nose, though.

GearBoxClock

She looks surprised about something...

CrustClock

I know what you mean. Know what would fix it?

You weren't going for that? I thought that's what you meant by 'expressive.'

She'd probably look less surprised if her mouth was less open. Her eyes also look pretty wide open -- if she's not surprised, her irises should probably be covered more by her eyelids. (Look at your own eyes in the mirror if you don't know what I mean.)
<Marlin Clock> This thread seems proof positive that divisiveness at any level is usually bad for the Clock Crew.
<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew

Loki Clock

The eyeballs should push the lids out to a rounder shape, and the skin to her right of her right eye is too far forward. Less of it should show from behind the eye, or perhaps none of it at all. Position your head in the mirror like in the picture and look at that spot.

ProzacClock

Do you have a photo you based it off of? Something about it looks off to me, and I can't really put my finger on it. It's like all the parts look right on their own but don't work together.

Silly Putty Clock

It looks like an illustration from a children's fantasy book. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

FrostShell

This painting sets my soul adrift a sea of doubt and love. It speaks to me and says "There is nothing to be afraid of, just love yourself, and the world will love you". It takes you through every spectrum of emotion and color, and leaves you sitting on a lone island that is your very soul. It is truly a masterpiece with no equal.

Also, it looks like she just got kicked in the balls.

It's the right (her left) eye which is the problem, I think. When I get the energy I'll reshape it. Thanks for the constructive criticism.

SpinningCubeClock

It's beautiful. Don't touch it. It's finished JUST LEAVE IT. It looks surprised because there is white of the eye above the iris, there never is unless the eye is open lots. I think it looks really good though. It's not completely realistic, but is stylized in a way that looks really really nice. I love it.
hello

CrustClock

Thanks very much, SC. I think I will try to create a more neutral expression, though. I'm not in love with it, so there's nothing to lose.

SpinningCubeClock

Actually, one thing I just noticed, the chest isn't centered properly. Follow the center of her face and neck, they do not match up with the center of the chest. This may be because her head is turned, however the tendons in the next say otherwise. I like the expression. :)

I'm sure I'm going to kill this thread with this post, but here's the thing now, with suggested changes:

The eyes are a bit dead. It's those motes which are a bit tricky to get right (at least for me). Luckily it's quite easy to redo until you get it right. Still - I think this is an improvement. She looks like she's leaning forward weirdly, but that's to do with the angle I photographed it at (honestly).

Its the combination oh her eyes being open wide and the small parting of her lips.

SpinningCubeClock

The eyes still look shocked. They need to be cut off at the top. As in, the pupils should be like U shapes kinda.
hello

CrustClock

Then she'd be looking up, unless I'm misunderstanding you.
