2008 was a bit slack compared to 2007, 2007 we seen full length releases from aesop rock, el-p, atmosphere, sage francis, mac lethal, dizzee rascal, saul williams, grayskul etc. etc.

this year is going to be the same, we're getting new full lengths from cage, eyedea and abilities, busdriver, quite possibly a weathermen album, dizzee rascal, mr. lif, possibly a camu tao (rip) record etc.

anyway if you have any releases your looking forward to let me know im always looking for new freshness

SilverCherryClock

How are they releasing a camu tao record when he's been dead for a year?

he was working on an album before he died, from what i've heard he only had the beats and the hooks done so i dunno what's happening or how it's going to play out but as far as i know el and a few others are in charge of putting it together, it's not some cash grab either, they all loved camu and the profits are all going to his family and fiancee.

SilverCherryClock

That's pretty cool, I like that the Def Jux guys are really close knit like that, on other labels the artists don't even know each other

MF DOOM's (or DOOM's but i'm never calling him that) album came out a few months back and i've heard it's pretty great. the only copy i've got (for some reason) is a promo copy but yeah i guess that's worth a mention

another post-humous j dilla album came out recently with a lot of unfinished tracks etc. and i've heard it's actually pretty decent. either way you can't go wrong with j dilla
hej.

okkkkkkkk,k

hhhhmm, Edan's project "Echo Party" is going to be released later this year, so I'm gonna be looking up to that

peyoteclock

DJXP4 should be fucking ill too, just cuz it's new jams from the def jux camp, if this leak from said comp is any inclination of what the wm album is going to be im going to take some waitmate indefinitely and hopefully when i wake up that shit will be out.

omg

lol your taste in hip-hop sucks.

The new DOOM was good.
NOSAJ THING good
Bullion good
the new Paul White album is good.
the new Dr. Who Dat was good
Hudson Mohawke
Prefuse 73's new album blew me away that it was good.
Dimilite - Quiz Tears is great (and most other parts of 7x7 stuff)
The new On Ra is ok but a bit uninspiring.

etc.

tons of better hip-hop stuff going on.

SixShooterClock

Theres the new beat konducta but the series kinda dropped after 1 and 2 for me.

Ras G - Brotha from anotha planet (GOOD)

Dorian Concept - When Planets Explode

Debruit - Lets Post Funk (not my thing but eh)

peyoteclock

i'll look into what you listen to but i really can't comprehend why you think the def jux crew is shit.

peyoteclock

also sleep's album hesitation wounds if fucking fantastic.

SixShooterClock

because its super white people hip-hop. Which hip-hop came from situation thats about something totally different. Listen to what I mention, it's better.

el-p certainly isn't super white people hip-hop, he's firmly grounded in the streets of nyc as is aesop rock, i'll admit cage has gotten pretty white lately, very suburban, also saul williams is black so is dizzee rascal, mr.lif, busdriver and camu tao (rip).

i still haven't gotten around to checking you're stuff out but i wouldn't knock Def Jux for being too white, maybe you should get ahold of the classic hip-hop documentary and see how racially diverse hip-hop has been since it's inception, it's urban music and el-p and aes definitely represent that whether or not they're really wordy with spacey beats and sci fi metaphors or not.

peyoteclock

ok so i see you listen to a lot of like experimental instrumental shit, nothing wrong with that, i bump shit like that a fair bit, but really if you're down on it i have no idea how can you say shit about el dash hubbard he fucking pioneered this shit in the mid-90's without him this would not be happening.

anyway i'm more of a lyrics guy, like to see alot of this production with someone dropping bars over top of it.

SixShooterClock

you really don't know what you're talking about at all. it's really sad.

Heliopios

only hip-hop (rap) i listen to is 2pac and Bone thugs sooooo

I know you have pretty eclectic tastes and a lot of the time you know your stuff but why do you have to be such a patronizing dick all the time
