is an Irish animator currently working out of Germany. He seems to have found a place in the world where he can do absolutely whatever he pleases and make money at it. Of course it helps that he's wildly talented. He is 23 and has already created some amazing work, often using the visual language of video compression as part of his aesthetic:

WOFL 2106
I've posted this before I know but it really is something else.

Octocat Adventures
This was released slowly over time on YouTube in 5 short chapters. It was posted under the name Randy Peters, claiming to be a 9 year old from Chicago. The first 4 chapters got a huge amount of attention while people still fully believed that they were the bizarre ramblings and MS Paint artwork of a 9 year old kid. The 5th chapter revealed all.

This is a video he made fro Venetian Snares. The use of compression imagery is particularly strong here.

Please Say Something
This was released slowly in 25 second segments online. Every time you see the colour card pop up, that's a new segment.

BAN EVERYBODY

Really cool. I think the "Please says omething" one goes on a bit too long, could have ended with the 50 years later bit.

Why are most of his movies about cats?

David O'Reilly is a rather swell animator, one of my favourites.
Been following him for quite a while. Quite interesting stuff he has done, it is like he pushes animation into a new direction.
I also managed to get a copy of his DVD, it is quite nice and has a bunch of swell things on it. It also smells a bit like cigarette smoke.

They aren't.

They look like they are...

only one of them has an actual cat in it, the character being a cat does serve a purpose too.
octocat isn't so much of a cat to begin with as it is and the tale of octocat doesn't revolve around him being a cat. it is his epic search to find his parents.
only other animation by him that I can think of that involves a cat was a parody of felix.
and yeah not about cats.
LOOK DEEEEP INTO THEM BOY

KING DAVID

I try but its too hard.

Please say something's message is pretty clear, as is octocat, Wofl 2106 I'm having trouble understanding.

Also, is the one in Wofl 2106 a wolf or fox rather than a cat then?

Wofl = Wolf. It's pretty easy

Stop being difficult just for the sake of it
