Torrents fudge up my interwebs

Whenever I start downloading a torrent, my internet starts bobbing in and out of connection. Like the download will rev up to 500kbs, then fall back down to zero for a few seconds. Then rev back up, and back and fourth like that. And my connection actually dies for those few seconds the downloads stop, cause I can't even load a web page on either computer, until it revs back up again that is. And this only applies to torrents, as normal downloads hold a steady pace.

What in the sam hill is going on here fellas.

What client are you using? Also are you on a wireless connection? If so, are you using the default windows wifi connection software thing?

The Spoiler

That's pretty odd. I've got a feeling this isn't your problem, but you might as well try throttling the bandwidth and see if that helps.

Thunderbolt

you can always try to use some other torrent program and see if that one works better

FrostShell

I'm using Vuze(azureus) on a wireless. I am using the windows connector but I have my required ports open.

Throttling my bandwith? Is there a pedal somewhere on my router for that?

Man, I have always used azureus. What's another good one?

Bittorrent is almost identical to Vuze(some difference is some sections) and it has never let me down.

By throttling bandwidth I mean setting a limit on how much of your bandwidth the bittorrent client can use. I don't use azureus but I'm guessing it's in either the right-click menu or main menu.

But like I said it's probably not your problem, sodo what other people are suggesting, too, and try a different program.

FrostShell

I got rid of Vuze and got uTorrent. It works great now, thanks guys.

uTorrent is the master of all torrent application!
I had Azureus for ages but then decided to get something different because I had a similar problem.

Although with my girlfriend its the other way round, her uTorrent messes with her connection whilst torrenting stuff.
