Working on a new controller I can wank off to...

So, I play alot of xbox, and I've decided I want an awesome controller. No more questions on the subject damnit.



Smoke black case
New casing and buttons. Basically its a smooth black controller case with smoke black buttons. There is a tiny little switch on the top that lets you toggle the LEDs.





Blue controller LED ring
The ring around the guide button is green, and the smoke case does not change that. So I need to find a service that sells new controllers with the green LEDs replaced. If you know a site that does this for a reasonable price, I'm all ears.




Black DPad and sticks
The smoke case dosen't come with new sticks either, and I figure a black Dpad and sticks would look a lot better with the new case rather then the standard gray. I'm not sure if I should go with the standard style sticks or the custom PS2 style mushroom top sticks.




Finally, a couple personal mods. For one I will add a plastic disc under the DPad like I did on my current controller to tighten it up, since Microsoft dropped the ball on this part of the controller where it's mushy as shit. Secondly, it seems that the guide button that comes with the smoke case is clear, so I would like to add an image of my Frostshell logo to it somehow. Maybe try and get it inside, not sure. I have to see the button first to figure it out.

Anyway that's it. Any other ideas? And no, I'm not interested in rapid fire buttons or any of that shit.

Oh hell yeah, this is all coming together for a reasonable price. I found a guy with a lot of credibility who can do the blue ring for $15 and even throw the case on for $5. I already have a mint controller, and the case is $30 plus another $6 for the sticks/dpad, that's... about $60 for the whole thing. Not bad at all really.

The smoke case is good and all, but its "Ooh, Aah" factor decreases after a while.
I should know, I bought two.

btw, the case comes with a screwdriver for DIY, and the 3 wires you have to solder can be done easily by a novice solderer. (2 to the trigger assembly and 1 to a point on the mic connector.)

As for the clear button, its hollow, but the actual hole is quite small.

PSS: The Xbox 1 sticks are interchangeable with a little sanding. (If you have a controller lying around that is.)

Also, I misspoke. Did you get the clearish smoke case or the rubbery smooth black case? I want the black one and am curious to know how it feels after a few hours of play time.

Oh and I know the kit is really easy to install, but since I am having someone install the much more difficult blue LED ring, I might as well just have him do the case too.

Yeah mine has the lightup buttons and all that jazz.
Yes, the bottom plate is a little off, having a gap at the top and the bottom going over the lower half.
I got the smooth black. The back is really smooth, but the front is about a step below smooth.

As far as the feel goes, it feels great, I never really felt the overlapping.
Though I did have to rub sandpaper over the sides since the two halves come together unevenly.

That and a couple years after I bought it (which was recently) the triggers that come with the case broke  and I had to swap them with the originals.

The light board is attached to the front half and you can't really swap anything.
I'm sure it came out of the mold uneven, XCM uses cheap plastic in their stuff.

Nah I am sure I can get it out of there. I would have to drill a tiny hole in the top for the LED toggle, but other then that the cases are the same. But hopefully I will like the new case and not have to do that at all.
