It's all downhill from here.

Im not worried about the movies or games, if anything this could be a good thing. I am worried about the actual comics though, specially the darker ones (Punisher, X-force, Deadpool, Moonknight etc), i really really hope that Disney doesn't enforce some bullshit rule to make everything more kid friendly. Other than that i doubt they will change the current artists and writers so i don't think there'll be much difference in the main Marvel universe. You can bet your ass Disney is going to start some gay side universe where everybody is a teenager dealing with girls, pimples and super villains though. Euggg

As Penny said, it's all going downhill if Disney buys Marvel

Berserk Berserker

Hopefully they don't plaster their name over Marvel's stuff like they always do:

Why does anyone care, Marvel hasn't produced anything amazing in ages and the Xmen movies are amusing at most.

What? They currently have several amazing comics running, Agents of Atlas, X-force, Incredible Hercules, Cable, Skaar/Hulk and several others are really great.

Don't live in the USA so we don't get them here, only their bad movies.

Arghhhhhhh this is exactly the thing i hate. People judging the Marvel universe based on Movies, Games and Tv Shows while never having read the comics.

Didn't Marvel get in trouble with Disney at some point because of Howard the Duck?

Slurpee

Disney owns Miramax, Touchstone, ABC, the ESPN ring, Lifetime, A&E, The History Channel, Hyperion Books, and US Weekly.

My point isn't that Disney is a massive and outrageously far-reaching conglomerate, which it is, but that they're perfectly capable of owning things without hosing them down and Disneying them up.

They're a corporation like any other, and they'll do whatever pays.
The public at large doesn't know Disney had their claws in Pulp Fiction, so Disney can keep their whitewashed image and still make bank.

Deceptive business practice, sure, but the tail-end is it means Disney purchasing Marvel probably won't change anything except that Marvel probably won't go out of business anytime soon.

To draw parallels, Warner Brothers has owned DC since 1969, and Warner Brothers is a subsidiary of Time Warner. (That's why Bugs Bunny was in the intro to the VHS copies of Tim Burton's Batman hocking Batman t-shirts. I would be amazed if a Disney buy-up would even go that far.)

Other than the slim risk of Disney changing things this is only good. Marvel is pretty much immune to going out of business, they have their hands on a lot of great intellectual property, and maybe Disney well replace Quesada.

Marvel already has comics designed to appeal to younger people with young stars, and a lot aren't half bad. Some spiderman comics, Powerpack and Runaways comes to mind. Also Marvel Adventures is awesome to spite being aimed directly at kids.

To be fair, you don't have anything. Clocks are just machines that tick.

Well those and Young Avengers, New Mutants and similar comics aren't bad i agree, i was talking about X-men evolution esque comic, where they all go to the same high school and shizzleee. In a related note Wolverine and the X-men is awesome, apparently the second series will also feature Deadpool (like he was in Wolverine vs Hulk).
