I usually start with the silhouette of the character, then just give it a colour, then on different layers I just use Black with different alphas... much smoother shading than changing the colour on one layer.

Problem is, I mixed the layers on the clothes so I got to lazy to give them detail.

Asked to do a unicorn so I did... never drawn a horse so yeah it's very 2d as are my earlier human drawings. Also flash is a bad program to fake graphics (ai rust) with but I didn't want to overwork it.

I realy like the first one, and the eye doesnt look manga-ish because manga eyes are bigger than real eyes
the use of alot of black around the drawn head and clothes and cell shading makes it look manga

Yeah flash has a nasty habit of turning things extremely 2d, I am highly unsober at the current moment.

But... drawing on paper takes more time, you cant skiss, draw over the skiss and then hide the skiss layer, you can't ctrl+z

I don't know anymore, I don't have time to learn photoshop and I just enjoy doing the occasional gay drawing in flash

acutally I don't trace even though it's hard to believe at times yes.
You need only google the image I drew referance of though, it's quite easy to guess.
Either way this is my way of learning; drawing of things... I think it is a legit way to learn but I'm no artist so I wouldn't know.
