It's been a few years since I've visited here, when I went under the moniker "GG Allin".  Well, I've decided to come back and let everybody know I still exist.  I'm doing quite nicely in my college education.  When I frequented here I was a freshman.  Now I'm a senior.  I've been learning all kinds of stuff about animation, and I want to show off my latest movie.

Uncle Sacco's Scary Shack of Horror!

I've been waiting all year to show off my little Halloween movie.  Some of it is a little crude, but it was a learning experience.

I know I haven't been in touch.  I'm still open to making new friends here, and with my website you can check out all kinds of ways to contact me.

Anyways, I'll try to visit here more often.

Don't go. I can't bear to lose you again. :(

Animation style was right cool.

Thanks.  I've been learning this stuff for years.  The only bit that bugs me is the Uncle Sacco walk cycle.  I didn't know jack about walk cycles at the time.  I'll make a flash with a decent walk cycle someday...

Whatcha do is, you make the two frames where the feet are at full spread, then the two frames where one knee is passing the other's leg. The rest you can do just by interpolating between those frames. In fact, even with just those four the action is communicated unambiguously to the viewer, so the other frames (assuming you're just smoothing out the action) only deliver realism and eye candy.

It's a combo platter of digital media.  I made the backgrounds with Maya rendered in mental ray.  The textures were custom UV maps composed in Photoshop.  The characters were all drawn on paper, scanned to my computer, and colored in Illustrator.  I put it all together and added visual effects using After Effects.  I'm actually way better animating in After Effects then I am at Flash.

Next semester I'll get a WACOM tablet, and it'll be easier to animate in Flash.
