It's not down to thinking, really, it's just reaction. When a cheetah is running at sixty miles per hour it isn't like theres a cognitive process telling it where to step to avoid holes or bumps.

EDIT: He isn't faster than the Flash. And I suppose he usually only uses super speed in bursts, moving in straight lines. For Superman, using super speed must be like firing a gun.
