I'm fairly convinced this doesn't work. I punched in a novel I wrote and got Dan Brown. When I took off the epilogue, it said I write like Raymond Chandler, who wrote noir detective stories. When I took off the prologue, it said I write like HP Lovecraft.

Baffling, really.

Actually, I wrote them very much alike. The first paragraphs even matched.

Well, it's obviously based on usage of particular words and sets of punctuation. It's not like it's not based on anything at all, it's just that what it's based on isn't that complex or significant. It's just another "what serial killer are you?" test and we're going "omg i took it twice and i'm bundy and gacy how did this happen".

I punched in Chuck Palahniuk's "Choke", and it said he writes like Stephen King. I wanted to punch in "Fight Club" as well, but I can't find a PDF that would let me copy its text. I also tried punching in The Eye of Argon, and it said that the guy writes like David Foster Wallace.

So far the only accurate thing is that I punched in "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman, and it said he writes like Neil Gaiman. Either he's very distinct, or tends to write the same way. I doubt it, though, since they said American Gods is written like William Gibson. :wut:

What would you suggest that's less obtuse?
