Hey guys, don't know if any of you remember me, but lets just say, there were some epic console debates back in 2005 involving myself and olskoo.

Anyway, I just post a link to my stream. In the past few months, it has become fairly popular, and if any of you guys wanna chat about videos games while watching them streamed live with commentary, you may like my site.

One of the streamers is working his way through Majora's Mask at the moment and I'm working on Scribblenauts, we but stream all kinds of games. Stuff like Chrono Trigger, impossible Mario levels, Jet Force Gemini, Kirby, Penumbra, SC2... stuff like that. When no one is streaming, we have hours of random videos (technically called autopilot.)

We also have a dedicated Minecraft stream and our community is really cool, not just mindless meme-spouters. We do contests giving away Steam games and Minecraft accounts too.

I'd love to reconnect with some of my friends from clock's past.

Every guy wants to be his  friend and every girl wants to date him. Understandably Slurpee is not a  very happy person.

I never got the appeal of watching random dudes play video games when you could just play them yourself.

Could someone explain it to me?

you don't have the money/don't feel like buying a game but you want to get a feel of what its like to play and want to hear the story

live streams of movies are pretty tight sometimes. Especially on friday nights after work when there's absolutely nothing on TV.

Games.. Eh.

I suppose that makes sense, although I'm quite happy to just check a gameplay video on Youtube that gets right to the point and I can skip through what I'm not interested in. I also don't have to hear a bunch of mostly lame, unscripted gaming banter and ridiculous over-reactions during it either. But other people might like that, so sure. Still surprised there's enough interest that these people can do it for a living, though.

That doesn't really explain the gaming marathons of classic games either.

AmberArachnidClock

The only gaming I like to watch are speed runs

Lets Plays are an illusion of shared experience.
the good ones might show you something cool you'd not seen in a game you already played, or take you through the interesting parts of a game that you don't want to actually bother playing (be it because of tedium or difficulty), or provide critical perspectives and interpretations of games you might not have otherwise considered. they can also be pretty funny- usually either because of other people's emotional investment, or lack thereof.
the bad ones won't offer anything new or interesting to accompany the game, or maybe the player is annoying or boring or something.
but all of them are a celebration of a common culture amongst loosely connected internet geeks- they socialize otherwise isolated experiences, and provide an avenue to talk about them, and listen to other people talk about them. they inject more meaning into the experience of a cultural artifact by socializing it.

SageClock

Good explanation, Slurpee. So in some sense, it's kind of like gaming forums, but with a live visual aid to guide the discussion. Hadn't really considered that. Thanks!

Marlin Clock

It all depends on the dude playing. I've played through WW twice, but I still found it funny to watch a guy playing it on youtube because I liked his humor and he showed me things I never even knew existed in the game like the Hero's Charm.

Yeah.. it's unfortunate, but that was the quickest (almost only way) to build a user-base. A little over half the regulars are cool and know how to behave, the newer ones are still heavily douche.

Yeah, I'm the same ZidaneX from IRC. I would love to get in touch again. AIM is where the chat is these days? No more IRC?
