Download the trial version from adobe. Uninstall it when your trial period runs out then reinstall it.

The only thing I can think of is a couple of General Info stickies.
This forum doesn't get much use anyway so you wouldn't want to put TOO much work into it.

I feel like the lack of use is due to a lack of help provided, it seems like if someone were to post with a question they'd be ignored. I'm gonna try and show that it can be useful using it again

That might be part of it, but I think another big part of it is that it doesn't really have a regular function, only an occasional one. If a regular function were provided that might make a difference.

Another thing to take into account is people don't want to appear uninformed on the internet. It's kind of a sign of weakness thing. Firm rules regarding conduct should be set in place to keep it civil, so that people can address their actual questions without having to worry about internet bigdickery

Well i'll keep the place ship shape on that. So people, DONT FEEL AFRAID TO ADMIT YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT COMPUTERS BECAUSE THATS WHAT THIS IS FOR; IF YOU NEED HELP.

The thing is that besides asking a few questions here and there, there isn't much discussion to be had.
The other forums under "Creative Arts" can have discussions as well as posting junk.

If you want my 2 cents, I say take the "Computing" part of the forum out and make it its own subforum under "Leisure" without being tied to big scary "Programming". Perhaps even removing "Programming" off the site entirely. Besides Sage, I don't think anyone in the CC knows any sort of Programming Language aside from Actionscript, which we pretty much have a forum for.

Without being tied to Programming, you can then encourage product reviews and other things and allow the possibility for discussion.

As for programming tutorials, I think we need a separate brainstorm thread, and to assemble a to-do list. As I see it, to learn programming you have to have some application already in mind. So let's think of some applications that will serve any average clock's interest. For AS, I can think of: Scripted animation; basic input, output, and interaction; basic movie control; combining the previous into the controls of a game.

That's an incredibly obnoxious sentiment. Would you also remove "post your artwork here" from an Arts forum description because you don't want people who can't stand for others to see their work to get scared off? Or maybe we should get rid of the Pokémon Battle Arena, because all this competitive stuff is throwing off your buzz. If anyone's afraid of sharing a forum with programmers, they can fuck right off.
