Mubarak is backed by the US. They are going to be acting on civilians with military equipment the US helped pay for.

pop-tart

Whoa. Maybe 4 white cops got acquitted of beating Rodney Aranababasatanifu.

VuBawlsClock

The US is not literally the world police. Did you even read the article or are you commenting based on just looking at a few pictures of Egypt?
These protests are something a portion of the citizens felt were necessary to bring about change in their government. It should last as long as it needs to.

I never thought  US was a world police. I posted this before reading any of the articles

Damn I can't believe I haven't been hearing about this, apparently the Tunisian protests that inspired the Egypt ones are still going on and have sparked some protests in Yemen. Seems like people are really starting to fight back against these US regimes.

AbsintheClock

Fuck Egypt, America has enough problems.

AstronautClock

To be fair, you don't have anything. Clocks are just machines that tick.

I wonder if/when the world will have internet communications that don't just depend on ISPs

That would require it being nationalized, and that doesn't seem like a good idea to me

I agree, I wasn't thinking of something like that though. I mean a totally free internet that no one could ever really 'shut down'.

I'm probably just dreaming, also derailing the thread.

The simple fact is that SOMEBODY has to maintain the internet infrastructure. Either it's going to be companies or the government. I don't see any other option.

Kombucha

Apparently, some rioters broke into Cairo's Egyptian Museum and fucked a bunch of shit up. Two mummies were beheaded.

Major bummer.
