Stop being a little bitch and find what you enjoy. I know not everyone is just born with a passion like I had for wildlife, but there's gotta be something you wanna do and do well.
Quote from: CadillacClock;1812264do this.

my first year was by no means regrettable and a college certificate has been ideal in applying for completely unrelated careers.

for my second stint, i am currently deciding whether i want to go into journalism (print and radio), radio (technical/business) or television. these programs deal with both the behind the scenes technical work and actual reporting and or on-air work.

discuss.
My brother's actually the editor of a morning show in Tucson, so there's gotta still jobs in the field if you try hard enough.

You'll probably not find yourself doing the best hours though, my brother goes from like 1-9am every day. He basically switched his sleep hours with his work hours.

I like playing StarCraft, should I drop out and try to become a progamer?
I like making people laugh, should I try and become a stand-up comedian?

I don't know what I like. I thought about doing one of those program things where you teach English in a foreign country, and even started taking a Korean class.
That I dropped because I missed too many classes and got behind.

I'm trying to figure out what I want to do, and nothing is coming to mind.
HELLO EVERYONE.

That's the thing I think, is that finding what you want to more is less of a thinking thing and more of an epiphany based on experience thing, at least it was for me. I think you just need to find ways to try out different things and you'll know if you want to do it for the rest of your life or not. Trying doing some stand up, try learning some actionscript, you'll see if you want to continue doing those things.

That's your problem. You're never going to get anywhere unless you work for it. I fucked up my first semester, but I picked it back up. If you don't feel like you need to do what it takes you might as well give up.

You wanna teach? You put in the time and learn.
You wanna program? You study your code.
You wanna be a comedian? I honestly wouldn't recommend that. I'm not saying you're not funny, but that's not really something you can make good money in unless you get extremely lucky.
Quote from: CadillacClock;1812267There's plenty of jobs here in each field. Some of my friends already went into Television and now work behind the scenes for quite a few large venues in Toronto. Personally, I would want to be on-air more than behind the scenes. This is a risky option since not everyone gets their time to shine.

On the other hand,

We generally should not undercut our life choices out of fear.

By the way, their hours are pretty awful too. Most work one-week days/one week-nights.

My leaning towards Journalism is that it would allow me to report on a wide variety of fields I find interesting. From politics to sciences. On the other-hand, so would Television -- if slightly less than Journalism and only if all goes well.
I hope you don't think I was directing that top part at you.

This shouldn't ever be factored in to anything you want to do with your life.

Okay, I guess good money wasn't exactly what I was thinking of, any money more like.

Well if he really wanted to be a comic he could have a day job. Wii was kidding about being a comedian though.

Yeah, I still have to figure out what I want to do. I'm sure once I figure it out, I'll be able to go super all out effort on accomplishing it. But right now, I lack a direction, so I'm just kind of doing nothing.

I mean, I have a job and I'm barely a freshman in community college, so I have some time. I'm not a total piece of shit yet, and will eventually know what I want to do with my life. Hopefully, right?

I just wish I knew what I wanted to do now. Right the fuck now.
HELLO EVERYONE.

Quote from: clammo;1812484yeah so basically you want communications since you have no real interests.

Nobody should ever get a communication degree. It's a step below an art degree. It's almost completely worthless.

"I don't know what to do with my life" means to me "I don't discover outside my life, my library of personality consists of what I'm given, I have not defined my taste, and I will only expand onto what I know I'm already comfortable with," and that truly is the saddest thing to me

Try to refine the talents you already have, expand your knowledge, read a book or something, and then try to do stuff that you really have no place doing, and then actually realize what it is that you do and do not like doing, and elaborate from there

Thinking "what do I like doing?" should be more of a guideline to what spectrum of the world to discover rather than a specific "then I should become a blank-trician" thing

I hope you don't get kicked into the world, instead of jumping into it... :(
