I figured I'd just get the ball rolling on this one. So feel free to post as concisely or in-depth as you like about the anime you moest recently watched.

For me it was Ergo Proxy. While it was entertaining I couldn't help but feel irritated at times by the dreams and illusions in certain episodes which seemed pivotal to the plot but amounted to nothing. A nice setting, good characters, but it feels very messy and convoluted at times. The conclusion didn't really seem to make a whole lot of sense out of the events that preceeded it either. 6/10.

FLOUNDERMAN_CLOCK

I read this sports manga about skiing recently. It starts out lighthearted and stays that way for about 100 chapters and then BOOM the main character you learn to love and care for gets horribly molested and nearly raped. On her birthday no less. Last thing I actually watched was Panty and Stocking which was pretty hilarious.

First anime where the fanservice didn't piss me off

AmberArachnidClock

just watched Akira again, one of the best animated movies of all time imo

In evangelion it was all subversive and a big fuck you to the otakus so I was okay with it there.

Quote from: RibsClock;1834126I watched Shigurui: Death Frenzy.

It's an anime about a school of japanese swordplay and two swordsmen within it. No teenagers with superpowers or nothing, it really surprised me. Plus, the music was really cool.

It was definitely an adult anime, and the pulpy way it showed tits and intestines was a little distracting and unnecessary at times, but otherwise it was pretty solid until....

...okay, the first episode it starts out showing you the build up to a big final fight between the two swordsman. The rest of the series is the recap up until that point, the idea being the last episode they wrap it all up in a final battle.

But they don't. They don't ever finish it, with the last episode acting like it's the second-to-last episode. When you go ask about it you get the "well you need to read the manga..."

Those people need to commit seppuku. If I wanted to read the manga, I'd have read the bloody manga.
I hate it when that happens. I got to skip that with elfen lied though, I heard that they cut the series in half and give it an alternate ending so I just read the manga to begin with. The show is just a dumb constant fanservice gorefest . Thats in the manga too but it has some depth at least and the plot doesnt go eighty miles an hour.

Quote from: RibsClock;1834154You know when I watched the fullmetal alchemist anime I was really impressed with how it actually managed to convey a sense of suspense and horror, but when fullmetal brotherhood came out all I heard was from manga fans how it kept all the stuff they liked from the manga but when I watched it it did a lot of the same story stuff but robbed it of the suspense, pacing, and character acting, and added all sorts of the things I tend to hate in manga (like falling back on chibi every few minutes whenever their animation budget ran short)

Well FMA is one of the few anime that did well as an altered anime. Rozen Maiden is really good for it's edits too.

Marlin Clock

I have to say FMA:B really picked up steam once ed and al get to Briggs. It's still on Adult Swim and almost all the episodes up to that are on hulu. I would pick it back up because I really like how it is so far.

As for myself, for the past few years I've been watchin' anime as they come out, so to say what i watched recently in detail would take a while, so I'll make it short.

Steins;Gate- Pretty good time travel story so far.
Tiger & Bunny- Decent anime about western Superheroes if they were marketed.
Nichijou- A gag show that can be hit or miss but is always at the very least beautifully animated.
Double-J- A 4-minute gag show that is incredibly hit or miss and is animated in this terrible but kind of endearing flash style.
Mawaru Pengiuindrum- Crazy show about a sentient hat that keeps a girl with cancer alive and commands her brothers obedience for keeping her alive in order to reach some unknown objective.
Sacred Seven- Almost like a power rangers show, except becoming a power ranger makes you mad with evil power, the main character has this readhead chick that conveniently can convert that into being a regular power ranger.
Ikoku Meiro no Croisee- Show about little japanese girl in early 1900's Paris. I accuse it of cultural supremicism with its depiction of the differences between japanese and parisian life but that may be just me.
Library of Dantalian- New Gainax B-team show set in early 1900's london, I like the characters so far.
God's Notepad- A detective dramedy with a loli genius and you everyman protagonist. Not perfect, but the beginning episode was good so I'm gonna keep with it.
God Dolls-Action show with giant doll monsters controlled like digimon or something. Pretty good fight scenes weirdly juxtapositioned with everyday slice of life stuff.

Bunny Drop-Best show of the season if not the year so far. Adorable yet realistic story of a man's struggles to raise a 6 year old illegitimate daughter of his grandfather.

Quote from: RibsClock;1834196What amazes me is how they managed to take Bleach, which isn't great to begin with but it keeps a vaguely interesting concept alive with a decent string of cliffhangers, and pour voice acting diarrhea all over it and have lazy animation and use all that time and money spared to make awful filler arcs while they wait for the manga to catch up. Seriously it's like making a movie where you put more effort into the storyboard than the actual film.

 Naruto > current bleach

however early yu yu hakusho style bleach > naruto

FLOUNDERMAN_CLOCK

Just wait till TreeClock gets in here and starts arguing with us about how great One Piece is!

Marlin Clock

Also, any of y'all watched The Tatami Galaxy? That was a fantastic show. It's on hulu.

buttplug

I read like the first few volumes of One Piece and I liked it, the mix of humor and fighting kind of reminded me of Dragonball.

I'm still in the middle of watching Paranoia Agent. Its good but not as smart as I thought it would be, everything that happens in it is pretty obvious. I think the episode with the woman with 2 personalities went over the top too much and became absurd.

You managed to set off my rage switch. This is why I hate the rebuild, because (from what I hear) its different now. I haven't actually seen it but it seems to me they added that one character for the sole purpose of pleasing neckbeards. I would rather have had them expand the roles of shinji's school mates.

Here I am raging over anime so I'm no better really.

Silly Putty Clock

Berserk.

Manliest anime ever. I love it.

I just saw Perfect Blue not too long ago.

I don't even know where to begin talking about it.
if there were two guys on the moon and one of them killed the other with a rock that'd be pretty fucked up wouldn't it?

Sombra

Watched haruhi, blue gender, toradora, and akira for the first time recently.

My mind is fucked.

The new movies arent subversive are deep at all. Its just tits and action. Granted its entertaining, but its not as intelligent.

Kaijuclock

Seen the wolverine anime recently, I also sat through the 2 eva ova's they released. I still don't know what to think about those, but that wolverine anime sucked balls. Also, he looked like travis touchdown sans sunglasses.
