Anno 1404 / Dawn of Discovery

I used to be really into games like Age of Empires 2, Settlers 2 and Pharaoh. I tried a bunch of modern day sequels like Age of Empires 3, Civilization 5 and Settlers 7, which all sucked to some degree. Not Anno 1404. I've been playing a single "continuous" game for about 5 hours now and I have so far unlocked only about 75% of my own buildings, and about 50% of the Oriental colonial buildings. It's probably the most expansive city builder I've ever played. The highest variety of resources I've seen in a game, which can be processed into an even larger assortment of products. Focus is on the economy - not warfare - and so I have yet to actually build a single soldier. Although I get the feeling that whatever combat there is going to be is going to be naval anyway.

Anyone (used to) play it? If you haven't played it and like any of the other games I mentioned, you should definitely check it out.

So I will like this game if I like AoE or Empire Earth and stuff like that?

Man I used to looove Pharoah and Age Of Empires. I might have to check this out sometime.
