I'd say the fan contributions are more remarkable. There's a metric fuckton of touhou images, about 208,000 right now on Danbooru which is just about 25% of its images. Some of the fan art is truly amazing.

People have also done a huge amount of re-arranges of touhou music, sometimes redoing it in a different genre or adding some artistic license to it.
