screwclock

it got released today and its under a free to play model

GreyClock

Free to play = cartoonish graphics?

I'll give it a shot but I doubt it will be better than Anno 1404 (or Dawn of Discovery for you Americans), which I've been playing recently and is without a doubt the best RTS/Citybuilding game ever.

screwclock

im skeptical about it too they charge 100$ for all extra features

Assuming it's anything like Age of Empires, it's an RTS. Same genre as Starcraft

To be fair, you don't have anything. Clocks are just machines that tick.

I, too, am skeptical. From what I've heard during development you only get 2 nations if you play for free, and overall I doubt it will end up being as good as previous games in the series.

Cartoonish Graphics was a misstep in my opinion. And I'm a guy that has no problem at all with stylized graphics over realistic if its done well. A more realistic graphical style just suits AoE better. If I don't like it I'll just play AoE3 with the expansions whenever I want to play an AoE game, at least that one is still fun.

Yeah...

Well, most MMO's improve significantly over time so I'm going to give this time to evolve before trying it out. If, eventually, they offer more than what are basically demos of nations available for free, and at least the capability to unlock most of what people can pay for with a good amount of effort (Besides stuff like cosmetic changes,) then I'll give it a go.

screwclock

I don't like it really, it's a ruined game, all they want is tons of cash. A "season pass" is $100 dollars.  There is no enjoyment you will get from this game that you can't get from AoE2 or AoE3 and their expansions.

Robfire

i very much prefer AOE3 through hamachi over this.

OvenmittClock

TF2 did it first, and did it best. Until all of those unlockables came out like the fucking lazer gun and  ruined the style :(

Team fortress is still better than the vast majority because the game-changing items are very easy to obtain without money. Games such as AoEO use a "pay to win" model which is always horrible. When the only method of obtaining important game features required to have fun is to give them money the game isn't free at all. It's just a scam.

Yeah, I can agree on that. As much as I miss the old vanilla TF2 it's still a great game and great deal.
