Hello again, friends. I haven't posted in about 4 years, but what's a few years now anyway? BB10 has been messaging me on Skype, asking for the .fla files for the Hotel California collaboration. I just searched around on the forums to see if anyone else has been talking about this, and it looks like no, no one is talking about it. There has been some confusion about this project over the years. I would just like to put some of the details out there for the record.

I was the project aggregator/organizer for the HC collab. I also made all the menus and personally made 2 entries. It was active around 2004 - 2005. It had a new feature in which there would be multiple parts per audio clip which would change randomly with actionscript, producing a different viewing each time. Despite a lot of interest, I believe about 40 - 50% of contributors didn't finish their work. There was also some issues with the complicated AS menus that cableshaft was coding. Some of the parts had only 1 poor-quality entry, but there is at least one per open slot. It's not that it could never be submitted, but that I held on for some of our high-level animators to finish their parts, something that never happened. I tried to revive the project years later, maybe 2007 - 2008, not sure. Things didn't pan out again, but I did release a swf of what we had around that time.

I'd be happy to produce another swf file for everyone to see if there is interest and if someone has a suggestion of where to upload it. And to answer BB10's question, yes, I have all of the original .fla files and everything associated with the project.

EDIT: added link to upload

A few bugs. A little too many suicides. Some parts really stand out. FU's, SpriteRemix. Sinister and Blackmagic's are pretty interesting.

We banned BB10 for being annoying.

Glad to see you're alive and well though.
My part for that collaboration was pretty shite if I recall

hi blackberryclock

it is for exactly this kind of behavior that bb10 recently merited a monthlong ban, and seeing as he hasn't stopped I predict a permaban in his future
I'm not surprised to hear about bb10 using any means of communication he can to bug otherwise inactive members about (presumably) dead Flash projects, but it is nice to see you stop by

if you'd like to upload .swf/.fla files somewhere, pineappleclock's clockcrew library being in the deepfreeze, I recommend MEGA
<Marlin Clock> This thread seems proof positive that divisiveness at any level is usually bad for the Clock Crew.
<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew

I think Newgrounds has file hosting in your user control panel now.
If you post what you got I will finish a part. (It won't be impressive or make sense but it might be funny)

Topcatyo

You guys if this actually leads to people finishing this collab that means BB will have been productive and we'll have to let him back

PhantomCatClock

It will mean BB10 is more productive working from the shadows so we should keep him there

I don't really mind that he messaged me. Hey, I'm here. That's not so bad.

I remember watching a version of this collab on the forum. I remember it never being released. Thought it was done tho but not released because of a LL Hotel California collab or something

VuBawlsClock

wow this almost made me want to make a clock movie
nice try

so it needs some instrument playing parts and some dbz fights, and it'll officially be a music collab

dang i had no idea it was this close to completion. safety dance had maybe 4 parts out of like 20 done.
even doing the multiple-parts-in-one-slot thing stairway to heaven did.

curious little window to the past. i bet if it got finished on time, it'd be less well-known. :P it'd be next to the other well-received but ultimately low-impact cc music video collabs like Let it B, Blood On the Motorway, and Never B Your Woman.

idk now that i'm looking at it, though, it has all the problems typical of music video collabs that led to their replacement by the pass-the-flash format. inconsistent tone, no central theme, a few time-filling parts by zealous newbies who hadn't developed enough of a creative identity to leave a decent impression.
there's some interesting consistencies with bgryder being the caretaker, and it kind of has a loose "isolated events connected by their relationship to a single sinister location" feel, but otoh some of the better done parts are also the most thematically dissonant.

yeah i guess "curious" is my final take. it's an interesting little artifact, it is.

there was all kinds of website drama around this period id bet it got lost in the shuffle

iirc the lock legion thing was just, we were both making a bunch of music video collabs that never got finished, and when we started a hotel california collab, they resurrected a hotel california collab they'd abandoned earlier and finished it, because they're the jim belushi of people

Watching that was like opening up a time capsule.

I should think it would be nice to submit to newgrounds on the CC account. Maybe with an introduction of an aged StrawberryClock blowing the dust off a VHS tape before putting it in the VHS and turning on the TV.

But there goes my mouth writing cheques my total lack of productivity can't cash.

PhantomCatClock

Dang, both of your post counts end in -00

Also, maybe finishing this would be a good clock day collab? It's not like we've started one and, hate to be the one to say it, it sounds like this would be less effort, which is what we need to motivate ourselves to do a dang thing this late in the year. That being said, I haven't watched it yet, so I will feel like a butt if it's amazing. Downloading but I MUST AWAY TO WORK
