If you have a relatively simple programming question, you can ask it hear and I, or another programmer, can try an assist you. Examples would be how to make preloaders, buttons, access properties of an object, math, or general programming concepts. I will also create an index with links to solutions that have been answered in this thread. If you have a more complex or multi-tiered problem, it may be better to create your own thread to allow discussion of specific cases.

I am making some programs for iPhone. ObjC is kind of odd, mostly because of how different the syntax is. Anyone else tried programming in ObjC or would like help or get their foot in the door?

If you watch the Science Channel and History Channel and Discovery Channel, he is simply repeating what many shows have said. However, I don't think the 'singularity' will be how they think it will be, or if it even exists at all. I also don't think the civilization types are particularly reflective of what a civilization will be like. On top of that, I don't beleive there is alien life on other planets (I don't really care either way, if there is then that's cool, but I just think there isn't), the probabilities we are dealing with are either 0 or infinite (meaning there is no other life or that we would have found other life), which stems from the fact that we know nothing about the universe. Making any concrete assumptions would be foolish since we are dealing with completely hypothetical concepts and lack sufficient knowledge to make any possible conclusions. As far as I'm concerned, they can keep looking for whatever they want, we learn other valuable knowledge from it besides their search for life, and that is what I am more interested in.
