Automatic .swf-to-.mp4 conversion is not worth the effort it'd involve. Such a feature would choke on ActionScript wherever it occurs, and in any case there's no reason to make a small, lossless, vector-based file into a big, lossy, raster file that'll wreak havoc on your bandwidth. You'd be better off trying to convert SWF to HTML5, but to what end?

Unfortunately, I've got to hop on the bandwagon of people not too interested in this project. I don't see myself using it, and I don't see other people using it unless it lets them do stuff they can't do elsewhere.

right, but newgrounds itself - which already has support for HTML5 video, too - is on the way out. flash is dead. it's like making an alternative to geocities or something. what's the point? the only thing i can think of that would turn my head is support for automatic conversion of .swf to h.264 or something.

In theory it can be achievable with ffmpeg

ffmpeg sounds like a good idea. i would say experimenting with .swf to mp4 conversion is the only worthwhile idea.

I'm offering an alternative to newgrounds, during the alpha i only have "embed by links", hopefully, i'll make a decent legacy flash upload feature, as for videos, there's a plan to extentend this functionality to dailymotion as well (or make a restricted video upload possible (mp4)). More feedback needed to decide on this.
