when we gain an hour, doesn't that mean, theoretically, that there is a duplicate hour, that the hour of 12 am, will happen twice...

please help me from going insane.

Quill

yes i have pondered this myself and i what i came up with is there is a duplicate hour
and i think daylights saving time is just muffed up
.

Daylight savings kills hundreds of thousands of people each year by making traffic accidents more likely, just so we can have the number 12:00 coincide with the sun being at the highest point in the sky on our clocks.

China Clock

The areas of the world not shifting their time according to Daylight Savings Time saves the world from paradox-apocalypse. Be damned thankful.

Funny to say this in the clock crew, but..

You give time as you perceive it; through the setting on a clock, too much credit. Time is nothing more than linear existance. The hands on a clock don't influence it. Nothing is influenced except your own perception.

It makes up for the errors in our calendar. The Mayan calendar is actually more accurate than the Georgian calendar that we use today.

The reason they have daylight saving time is so that it's lighter for longer in the winter and the kiddies can get home from school without getting run over.

Or they could end an hour earlier because it's light for a shorter period of time in the Winter. Also, teenagers are biologically inclined to stay up later into the night and sleep longer into the day, so school should be taking place at night, anyway.

No it doesn't. It reverses the changes it makes, so it doesn't correct anything. And the Gregorian calendar will always be inferior to the Mayan calendar, because the Mayan calendar is perpetual and the Gregorian one is not.

Scientists actually alter the clock periodically and don't really say anything about it. They do this throughout the year, and it rarely ever makes enough of a difference to impact it by a minute.

Why? That's for you to decide.

You're thinking of leap year. Daylight savings time is mostly for saving electricity.

We don't have Daylight Savings Time here, LAWLAWLAWL
