By this point most of you have probably seen Iron Man. That movie was made to test the waters and see if it was worth while for Marvel to spend a lot of money working on a whole Avengers film series. With it's huge success, more movies that are going to tie together into one Avengers movie are being produced. This possible future movie by marvel was foreshadowed by Nick Fury showing up at the end of Iron Man.

So far the release dates are
Iron Man (2008)
The Incredible Hulk (2008)
Iron Man 2 (2010)
Thor (2010) <-- fuck yes
The First Avenger: Captain America (2011)
The Avengers (2011)

There's also rumors of an Ant Man movie being worked on.

Spiderman, the X-men, and I think The Fantastic Four aren't going to be featured because Marvel doesn't own the film rights to them any more.
That doesn't really matter though because none of those guys were ever important members of the Avengers.

If all the movies are on par with Iron Man in terms of quality, this is going to be incredibly awesome.

To be fair, you don't have anything. Clocks are just machines that tick.

I thought Iron Man was terrible, so I'm not, in any way, excited about this, but good news for the people who like super hero movies.

Biblo

i'm looking forward to all of them but i doubt they'll be as good as iron man

Lol what? How did this happen?

Also I can't wait for the Thor movie, though it might be weird to pull out since he is the most DC-ish Marvel hero aside Captain America.

ACTUALLY IF I COULD INTERJECT

Spider-man has been a member of the New Avengers (formed, along with Young Avengers in the wake of Avengers Disassembled) along with Wolverine for four years. They've both outlasted Iron Man and Captain America on the new roster.

And the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, of the Brotherhood of Mutants of X-men continuity, were on the Avengers in 1965, and The Scarlet Witch played a pivotal role in the deaths of Ant-man, The Vision, and Hawkeye, and ultimately led to the Avengers disassembling.

Furthermore,

also, yeah, I'm pretty sure the Marvel film rights belong to a bunch of different companies; Universal, Sony Pictures, etc. with the Avengers films all being developed in-house.

Also, a Luke Cage movie has been announced, and Marvel is making it, so here's hoping.

Also, too, it's not like a Spider-man cameo would be unprecedented. Before New Line acquired the rights to Friday the 13th, they were in serious talks with Paramount to co-produce Freddy vs. Jason.

The New Avengers aren't the Avengers! Although I like the members of the New Avengers a lot better than the originals and would rather see a movie about them being made.

But they wouldn't need to show up in a movie about the Avengers until at least the second movie, if they made one. This is an origins story after all and is likely only going to feature heroes from the first generation of Avengers with a few cameos from War Machine and the like.

Come to think of it, though, I don't recall ever seeing the Scarlet Witch or Quicksilver in an X-men movie...

I was thinking that Luke Cage should get his own movie but thought he was too minor a character to get it.

Yeah.

Slight topic shift, if Nick Fury's appearance at the end of Iron Man is any indication, I guess they're going for an Ultimates-style origin?

I always liked the 616 origin better, because there was no pretense of forming a superhero team. They just kind of happened to end up together because Loki was being a dick, whereas in Ultimates Nick Fury literally drove from hero to hero and went "WE ARE FORMING A SUPER HERO TEAM LET'S GO."

Nick was so blunt about starting the Avengers in Iron Man I don't see any chance that he isn't going to personally track each member down. Besides, I don't think the 616 origin would work in a movie. It would take too long and seems unnecessarily complex.

I think they're going to end up like the x-men movies, blending the 616 and Ultimate universes and taking what fits best in the context of a film. For example they seem to have 616 iron man and Ultimate Nick Fury. They're probably going to use Ultimate Thor too.

Its got the shiny things too so it fits pretty much with iron man with "Hey I got one of these too, nice!"

well tbh i think ultimate nick fury only look like that because they were setting up for making a film. samuel l jackson had to give them the permission to use his image in the comics.

People actually WANT an Ant Man movie? He's the biggest failure in superhero history.

Every one of those made me nerd rage. He thinks Namor is weak? Did he even bother to check wikipedia to find out he's as strong as the hulk?

Captain Marvel a ripoff of Superman? The only thing similar about them is their powersets. Marvel spends his time keeping the magical forces of the universe in check. He's more like Dr. Strange than Superman. Also, they used an example of this costume from a miniseries that takes place in the far future and has no relevance to what he actually looks like.

Bitching about Luke Cage with a horribly outdated blacksploitation costume and mannerism he hasn't sported in ages? complaining about who's playing Thor when an actor hasn't been picked yet? ect ect fuck that site

at some point there's got to be a civil war movie, if only to make way for the epic planet hulk chapter

patriotclock

The Cap movie segwaying into the Avengers finding him in the Ocean a few weeks later will be awesome.

I hope Dr Strange is involved even though he's in New Avengers and I hope he's played by David Bowie even though it's not all that appropriate.
