I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with their work? They're the label who signed Joy Division and then later New Order amongst other bands but I'm focussing particularly on their artwork which was just as inspirational to me as their work in music.

The style is very minimalist and they were noted for using outlandish and origional materials and concepts for example they created an album cover for The Durutti Column which was made of sandpaper and destroyed the records around it. If you hadn't already guessed they weren't the most business orientated group of individuals and with the help of the Happy Monday's all expenses paid trip to Spain the company was ran into the ground but anyway here's an example of their work if anyone is interested:

Here's their cover for Joy Division's Closer, possibly their most famous image. Its a graph of the death of a star apparently.

This is another of their more famous pieces, it's the cover of New Order's Blue Monday and is based on a floppy disc which were cutting edge at the time I think.

Finally here's a prime example of their bold minimalist style:

I think our infamous OBEY poster could sit happily alongside this stuff, just thought I'd share.

Thanks for sharing all that. I've never heard of them but I'll keep an ear out now.
