HELLO EVERYONE.

Slurpee

yeah I don't care what you guys say this motherfucker was scary
I'd be scared shitless some of that shit happen to me I'm in a tent in my backyard- they're in the middle of the woods in the middle of bumblefuck nowhere
and they're in their tent and you can hear little kids laughing and then the sides of the tent start like slamming inwards?
and then alla sudden they can't even leave because the woods, not them because they've been going south the entire time, the woods somehow doubled back on themselves
then one of them disappears and the next morning they find a bundle of sticks tied together with shreds of his jacket, and there's fucking body parts inside? and then when it's night time again and they hear him screaming?

that's some scary shit.

because he wasn't screaming when he disappeared they didn't even notice him gone until the morning, so why was he just screaming then? when they found his shit covered in blood?
and then they didn't even see him again. when they were in the house his voice was coming from upsairs, and theygo upstairs and all of a sudden it's coming from the basement? and the fat kid just flips out and he's not even thinking and he just runs downstairs after the voice? that is fucking scary. what would you do if one of your friends started acting like that? and then you go down there and he's standing there facing the corner like it's something to do

i don't know what the problem everyone has with this movie. it's excellent and incredibly innovative. one of the few films that genuinely scared me.

i think a lot who hate it are part of the "UGH YOU DIDN'T SEE THE MONSTER THATS SOOOO GAY" crowd, so they can die

right, exactly.

it was 1:30 in the morning, lights were off, surround sound up, and I had a cup of tea, some bbq chips and a chicken pot pie.

if I'm expecting a horror movie to actually be good, alone in a dark house the only way to fly, much as I enjoy a rowdy audience.

That... sounds... like a unique mix of flavors...

But yeah, a lot of people write it off because of all of the hype/parodies that came out after it got big, but I saw it in the theater when it came out and it was pretty damn creepy. I haven't seen it in awhile, though, and I actually still need to buy it on DVD.

If you watch it by yourself late at night with the lights out it is scary but if you watch it in the middle of the day with your mates it is alot less scary.

Amazing film still but as everyone said the second one is the biggest turd in the whole world.

Also isn't there a game out???

:this:
I saw it the day after it came out, and I thought it was very scary.  I told all my friends at school that it was great.

But they saw it after all the media hype gave away everything and ruined the atmosphere. So they were like "That movie sucked, it wasn't scary at all.  You thought that was scary?"  Yeah, it was scary

So, in a way, this movie disappeared up its own asshole.  Sad, really.

Biblo

The bit with the kid's voice is possibly the scariest thing I've ever seen in a film

The really simple use of sound and light is astounding. Like, at night when they can hear that echoing clicky noise coming from all directions, and you can only see as far as the torch can reach, that's genius. So simple, but perfectly scary.

I can't imagine how terrifying it would have been to see it believing the whole story around it.

Nightmare Clock

I think it's pretty scary in certain parts (also depending on HOW you're watching it, 1:30 at night would probably scare the fuck out of me)

but parts of it I also thought were pretty stupid.
Like 10 minutes of them sitting there bitching about there being no cigarettes, or when they're all laughing and the guy casually adds "HEY I KICKED THE MAP IN THE RIVER ISN'T THAT HILARIOUS LOLOLOLOL"

It being like the most parodied movie besides Scream kinda ruined the scary for me.

So if you feel like making some new friends, imaginary or not, why  not come to the Clock Crew, where you\'re guaranteed a seat and a helpful  instructional pamphlet when you walk in, so long as you don\'t act like a  twat.

The "sequel" or tribute whatever the fuck sucked scrotums.

PoisonshroomClock

i think what makes it so scary is how it's filmed with the handycam, it sort of immerses you a lot more and how it starts off like a home video-type thing that yourself could easily be in. so that when shit starts getting messed up it feels more sincere.
also fun fact for those who didn't know; most of the movie is ad-lib. the director pretty much gave them supplies and sent them off, with directions to other supply stashes with things that had to happen in that day or whatever.

Actually it's not all that innovative, it was a part of a string of "THIS IS REAL FOOTAGE BECAUSE IT WAS SHOT IN THE FIRST PERSON ON A CRAPPY VIDEO CAMERA" movies in the late '90s. Maybe people hate it because you can't see the monster, but I hated it was just completely dull.

I think the fact, that you never get to see the witch, adds to the overall experience, since you don't even know what killed them and how. And the unknown is normally more scary than the stuff you can figure/visualize.
