I went to denmark street and found a "Dean Razorback Cherry sunburst" Sounded great, but i just couldnt afford it. i decided to get this one for now, ive been playing for about... 4 years now, and im getting pretty good. once i move out ill be saving up loads to get guitars.

There was this Warlock, (Again BC Rich, but meh) Special edition, and it had a metal web over the faceplate. the fretboard also had loads of spiders on it, but i still couldnt afford it. i havent got 472£ to spend, i dont even get half that on birthday's and such.

I Decided to get this once because my Friend brought a Kerry king flying v, and it plays really great. another friend played one of these and he said it would be a good idea to buy one, plus i liked the way it looked, but i suppose your right, BC Rich is more about style rather than the way it plays.

i just havent got the money for all the amazingly great guitars, and it sucks, i know, but if your right about the pickups being shit ill just play my gibson clone that i got for my birthday, that cost about... £60.
Plus, the amp ive got is shit, so i rarely play on it. No Distortion Either :'(.

I used to think this way too. Now I never judge a guitar by the company name written on the headstock. My favorite guitar is a Yamaha. I was really surprised to see so much quality in a name i've never trusted in my life in terms of guitars. It has the crasftsmanship of any Martin guitar out on the market, and I chose it over the Martin D-28, which was originally my plan. My Yamaha cost me 900 bucks, and it sounds just as good if not even a bit better than that D-28, which was priced at a little over 2000

More so what I meant was Gumfruit thinks he bought two classic Fenders cheap from a guy that "doesn't know shit about guitars", so more so it was to see if he knew shit about guitars. ;)

Why? Single bridge pickup ensures that clean tones will sound twangy, the body is probably basswood or alder too, which won't help that, the body is pointy, doesn't seem to be designed with ergonomics in mind, a single volume knob won't give you the necessary tone control for... anything. The neck looks to be unfinished maple, which will be twangy like no tomorrow, Bolt-on neck for reduced sustain and tone, but strings through the body should deal with that.

Overall, you should have got a les paul or a strat, something that sounds better.

Quote from: LambdaClock;1407314fuck you faggots my '63 strat kicks the shit out of anything else, old school is the best.

you should refinish it with tung oil, it'll sound and look better, you can see some wear and tear on the finish on the lower horn, that should be fixed soon.

It's a beauty anyway, it's guitar porn to be sure.

if the necks original, disregard this, but you should replace the neck with a warmoth one made of birdseye maple, with an angled headstock, it'll increase sustain and the tone of the guitar, if the neck is original, forget this section.

BluezombieClock

Yeah. If I were you i'd sell that and look at some Epiphone guitars. I'd suggest a G-400, amazing guitar for the price.

oh yeah, and trick it out with frank zappa style switching

series-parallel-coil tap switches per pickup, two phase switches, one for each pickup, and a mysterious switch which I assume summons demons.

That looks like too much useless control for nothing though. Then again, we ARE talking about frank zappa, so i guess it's acceptable for him.

nah man, series humbucking cancels out some of the higher frequencies creating a bassier sound, parallel gets it to a cleaner distorted sound with more of the high frequencies, and coil tapped gets it as high as possible but with hum

the phase switches reverse the polarity of each pickup, which can drastically change the sound in the terms of parallel humbucking, or use hum cancelling with poth pickups tapped with one pickup reversed the polarity of the other.

and demons make your guitar sound better.

although, with all the switches, it does reduce the overall output, but that's supplemented by either hotter pickups or a slight amount of distortion; to raise the gain.

Those SG-shaped guitars are my favourite ever. I was thinking about getting an Epiphone for a learning guitar after I learn on an acoustic. Guitar nerds keep telling me they suck because of dicey pickups and cheap wood, but I wouldn't be that much of a connoisseur at that point. :p

Though I was also thinking about getting a Danelectro. The Hives and the Sex Pistols have used them, and they are quite slick.

The pickups arent necessarily 'THE shit' but as an overall guitar for about 400 bucks (I believe that's what it's priced at), it's got an amazing feel and sounds very nice!

faded g-400 300 dollars

anyway, there isn't inferior woods in the epiphone's, my Epi Les Paul Plus Top has an AA grade maple top, and the body wood has a beautiful tone to it, a nice piece of african mahoghany.

Gibson Les Pauls have an AA grade maple top with south american mahoghany, very little difference there

Gibson Custom Shop Les Pauls, have an AAAAA grade maple top, with south american mahoghany body, that's an incredibly guitar.

the main differences between gibson les pauls and epiphone les pauls are the finishes and where they're made.

anyway, Gibson stock pickups aren't beauties either, the ceramic ones are nice, but the other ones aren't hot enough, especially when when they're double-wax potted with a nickel cover.

the Only Gibson I could ever see myself getting would be a Gibson Flying V, the epiphone flying v is a 58 style and made of korina, the gibson one is 67 style and made of mahoghany.

the 67 style is better, the controls are placed better, more intelligently.

Epi V vs. Gib V

The OP guitar is so ridiculously lame it makes me want to cry

B.C. Rich? If you want a real metal guitar get a fucking Ibanez or a Jackson, don't get some crappy, toneless, piece of shit.

YES

Ibanez makes some pretty good guitars, but if you really want a metal sound, you have to know what causes the tone of metal

You don't want a lot of bite for the grind, so you want very little really hard woods (no maple necks, all mahogany baby), and you need really hot pickups and a TUBE AMP, no solid state crap, TUBE AMPLIFIER

The guitar makes almost nothing of the sound, when it comes to an electric guitar. The wood vibration makes a diffirence, but it's very minimal, as the sound is drastically changed by the pickups and the amp, and any other piece of hardware used between the guitar and the amp.

You guys, I've been lurking here for a bit trying to see what makes a good electric.  My birthday is coming up and I'm thinking of getting an electric guitar, but I won't settle for anything that sounds crummy; I want a good instrument that sounds good and lasts for a long time.  What can anybody say?  A guy at my school said to get a Strat, but everyone uses those.

Pm me if you want so we don't derail this. It's all dependant on budget.
