For you convenience Flux, I shall now attempt to explain in simplified terms the effect of increased taxes among various income levels:

Single man making a low wage of $400/week [~$20,000/year] (this is about food service wage) and we'll extrapolate for no government benefits at first (probably could qualify for welfare and food stamps) and assume essentially perfect medical condition or other various problems than can impact finances.
As you may or may not know, the employer will take deduct from his wages various government and private benefits (probably no private benefits for food service though) which include things like social security and medicare on the government side, and various insurances for health or accidents from the job or retirement on the private side. This is without assuming union payments.
So, in the current state of taxes, the deductions from the paycheck will account to aprox $50-$100 (can vary a lot) so he now earns $250-$350/week [~$15,000/year].
Then we need to deduct for income tax which will actually tax on his ~$20,000/year (to put it simply and assuming no charity or other income etc.)
So we take 10% of ~$20,000, $2,000. So he REALLY gets ~$13,000.
BUT! Now we must deduct cost of living for shelter, car, insurance, food, maintenance, clothing, etc. (excluding most luxury like large TV or special equipment or hobbies, assuming this man rents and has ~$10,000 car on 10 year payment plan at 2% which is generous and is insured). This will come out to be rent (includes electric, gas, insurance, etc) ~$8000, car (includes gas, maintenance, insurance etc.) ~$3000, food/clothes ~$2000 and uh oh....
$13,000-$8,000-$3,000-$2000 = $0 and this is being GENEROUS.
Now this type of person will probably qualify for a few thousand in government benefits and maybe even private charity. So hes barely breaking even.

Now this is closest the lowest possible income and live a normal though melancholy life above being a bum.

Now I'll think about describing the situations for the next few levels probably in a separate post.

I hope you read this.

Then why sink to their level? If you proclaim yourself as someone wiser you are the bigger sinner by sinking to that level no?

Also my country is in the top 5 tax paying countries in the world, noone is poor, noone is starving, everyone has health care, schools and chance of compensation.
And our economy is actually quite good.

i distinctly remember it being the republicans that, throughout the campaign, called obama and his supporters such things like "babykiller", "terrorist", "anti-american", "socialist", "pinko", and even "racist"

so i apologize for giving off the impression that democrats insult republicans when we win but you're damn right i'm bitter and tired of republican bullshit, i've had to deal with it for almost a year

This is a valid counter point and will concede the point.

You didn't screw it. Now you just have absolutely no right to complain if you don't like how things go the next 4 years.

And the fact that even with all that money 42 million americans are considered "poor" by UN standards and 2 millions reside in state prisions does not make you sad?

Clearly something is wrong with your politics. Proven by the fact that the whole world wanted Obama for president and now your on country does aswell.

Quote from: toyotaclock;1441841i respect mccain and i believe he genuinely has the country's best interest in mind

i however have no respect for the ugliness that has come out of his campaign or his supporters

This. Also I question his judgement for choosing Sarah Palin for his vice president. But yes, I do respect John McCain and I believe he handled himself very well, if not his campaign or the people who attended his rallies.

Uh, you make a some good points about the taxes, but there is a difference between the country bringing in money, and less people being poor.
