Anyone reading this? I just read Issue #2 and im completely in love with it.

I case you don't know who they are they are the new avengers after Tony Stark fucked up.  Team Leader is Norman Osbourn aka The Green Goblin, who wears a suit build from several older Iron Man suits combined with Oscorp tech and spray painted in the colours of Captain American.. He now calls himself the Iron Patriot (a name obviously taken to win over the public). He is the only one know to the public. As far as the public is concerned the other members are who they appear to be.. but their not. Second in command is Moonstone, who poses as Ms Marvel. Other members are:  Bullseye as Hawkeye, Venom as Spiderman (He's taking medication to keep his human physique so he's no longer the giant monster he was), Daken as Wolverine and Noh-Varr as Captain Marvel. The Sentry and Ares are still part of the team a swell.

The comic is filled with dark humor and focuses around propaganda. Osbourn main interest is winning the publics favor and not so much saving people.  Venom and Bullseye are just in it so they get to kill people and they are the two that makes this comic great with their dark humor.




These don't really do the Art justice because these are all relatively small frames, the larger frames are really nicely done but i can't be bother to resize them.

Ok did you read Civil War and Secret invasion?  Well you know how during Civil War Iron Man was like the leader of the pro-registration thingy, and he basicly caused the super heroes to chose sides. Well during Secret Invasion it turned out this was all a plan by the Skrulls to weaken earth defenses and people basicly blamed Tony Stark because A: he was head of SHIELD and B: he was head of the Avengers and C: the Skrulls disabled all Starktech which disabled the SHIELD helicarrier and several superprisons.  And at the end of Secret Invasion Normal Osbourn kills the Skrull queen (with the help of Deadpool) and he gains massive sympathy from the public. He uses this to influence the public into hating Tony Stark even more and causes Tony Stark to lose his position as head of SHIELD and the Avengers. And it's given to Norman Osbourne, he then disassembles SHIELD and starts HAMMER in it's place. Which consists out of former SHIELD, HYDRA and THUNDERBOLTS agents. He also has to form a new Avengers group, which he does. The Thunderbolts are still under his control only with different members and he uses them as a covert strike team in the US, while he uses the Shadow Initiative for covert missions abroad.   But virtually nobody knows that the Dark Avengers consists out of super villains and mass murders.

Iron Man is now part of the Mighty Avengers along with Henry Pym (now know as the Wasp after the dead of Janet van Dyke), Vision II, U.S. Agent, Stature, Hulk, Jocasta, Hercules and Scarlett Witch. They aren't really that involved in Dark Reign but they are involved in another story arch with some demon guy and Pietro Maximoff and shit which i don't really follow

While the New Avengers now consists of Captain America (Bucky Barnes), Spider Man, Ronin, Mockingbird, Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, Wolverine and Spider Woman are the ones who are really appose Normal Osbourne so they are prominently featured in dark reign.

As for the Iron Man comics, they mostly revolve around Pepper Potts who's now Iron woman. And War Machine has it's own comic.  Both of which follow the Dark Reign story arc.

The Dark Avengers are sorta the good guys, they keep the peace but they also do aid Loki, Namor and Dr Doom when they ask for it so it's not really clear yet. They are definitely a lot more violent and Osbourne is manipulating The Sentry to do his bidding. For instance in issue #2 they aid Dr Doom in his battle with Morgana and The Sentry rips off her head without hesitation on Osbourne's command.

Oh and Moonstone is now Ms Marvel, but she's wearing her old costume for some reason. And Noh-Var uses the name of Captain Marvel but just wears his own Costume.

wow. that's one hell of a retcon.  so basically everything is all sketchy and eighties again? It all sounds way to convoluted for my tastes. but i'm probably just saying that becasue i can't read it. Iron woman sounds bad ass.  

Also: what has thor been doing all this time. Is he still rebuilding the pantheon?

He did, but he's not really playing a part in dark reign. At the beginning he made a brief appearence and he let Tony Stark know he would never fight alongside him for all the things he's done.

i plan on picking this up, i havent yet got to dip my toe into the awesome this appears to be.

No name and he's still as insane as ever. Although he doesn't go on killingspree's anymore, because he knows Osbourne will have him locked up if he does.

after reading this thread i started reading civil war.

finished she hulk #08 last night, working my way through the war.

Civil War is a great read. I originally started with just the Deadpool issues of Civil War but then i wanted to read more so i read the entire thing in a couple of days.. since then im hooked to major Marvel events.

I'm likeing this story a lot. what week is it published? There are no comic shops over here so I have to get it through "alternative" methods.

What do you want? just Dark Avengers? or one of the previous Marvel Events?  Dark reign has only been going on for 3 months but you can find collections of cbr files of the other events on various torrent sites. Which you should never do, because they will arrest you and you will be raped in prison!  I heared these criminals searched for: Civil War, World War Hulk and Secret Invasion. Those fiends!  As for Dark Reign you can find the January and December issues aswell.

That's at least what i heared from various criminals though.

the thing is, I'm not to concerned with the over arching story lines. I just want to read a few titles like iron man and thor and such. If a less respectible person, unlike you and i, wanted to find those things it would be pretty hard. That thar secret invasion sounds intriguing though. At least it would if i was a damn dirty criminal. which I'm not.

Did you read Civil War? because that is like a major major Marvel event that's a must read in order for everything that followed to make sense.  World War Hulk isn't really necessary but a fun read non the less.  Anyway im sure some criminal will contact you about this illegal stuff, just be sure to tell him you aren't a lawbreaker and you will report him to the proper authorities.

civil war was pretty great, but i didn't read all of side stories, pretty much just the main book, all of the avengers books, spiderman, and iron man. also some of the x men i think. shit i did read a lot of it.  i read part of world war hulk but that was around the time i came over here.
